Dear IMPRINT Network members,

As the year draws to a close we would like to wish you all Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a good start into a Healthy and Happy 2023!

Fortunately, we are in a different space at the end of 2022 compared to the last 2 years – the coronavirus is not gone, but overall a safer space with vaccines and community immunity – (plenty of other nasties going around, but let’s leave them for the moment…)

To some degree the pandemic has galvanised our own research agenda, as the biological and implementation challenges of vaccines to be given in pregnancy has risen up in the minds of international agencies and also companies-which can only be a good thing for IMPRINT – with RSV and GBS vaccines on the horizon.

Quite a few IMPRINT members received additional grants and the idea of pregnancy registers in LMIC is now firmly on the horizon, also with the BMGF and other funders and the landscape of including pregnant women in clinical trials is changing, as is the recognition that participant participation, social science insights and communication are crucial in this space.

Looking back at our end-of-year message from last year, we were expecting not to have funding beyond March 2021, but interestingly, tables turned, we got a further costed extension to the network grant, and we are now looking forward to seeing some of you in Kingston, UK, during our face-to-face meeting in February.

Who knows what can happen as maybe more money for these highly successful vaccine networks might be available in the future, and we have put plans in place to sustain at least the imprint of IMPRINT beyond the current funding period, which ends on March 31st 2023. We would like to thank LINQ for all their support across the many years and hurdles.

People have clearly recognised the value of networks like ours and our partnerships continue to flourish.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible in 2023 somewhere, sometime to continue our work.

Happy holidays,
Beate & Chrissie, on behalf of the steering committee and the LINQ management team
