Reflecting on an Unforgettable Year of Building and Growing With Community

When we look back on 2022, we can’t help but wonder how our small but mighty team achieved such incredible success and impact. During a year when many were adjusting to post-pandemic realities, remote work, and economic uncertainty, our team built an all-in-one learning community platform and delivered world-class learning experiences for some of the world’s top thinkers and leaders. 

And we did this alongside you, our community. Building a product that makes it easier for you to serve your learning communities and helping you achieve your most ambitious business goals is how we get to live our mission every day. 

Speaking of our mission, this year, we published the Disco Manifesto, identifying learning and community as two of the greatest levers for creating change in the world. That is ultimately why Disco exists—to enable leaders to create a better world through decentralized, niche communities that make learning more accessible, affordable, and sustainable. 

We believe that purpose-built, profit-aligned, and community-powered learning businesses are the future—and our customers are a testament to that.

In 2022, we welcomed customers who are leading the learning revolution, like YSpace, allWomen Tech, Agile Academy, WeAreNoCode, Learn Biomimicry, and many more. Businesses like ours can’t exist without you. We are grateful to all of our early adopters for their trust, advocacy, and openness to providing us with invaluable feedback that is helping us build an extraordinary product.

We feel inspired by the impact our customers are making, and we’ve been privileged to build a few learning communities of our own. 

This year, while building our product, we also designed and delivered learning experiences for Roger Martin, one of the world’s top business and strategy leaders, and the beloved Margaret Atwood, a cultural icon whose work continues to influence the world in immeasurable ways—the New York Times seems to think so too. 

Practical Utopias and Create Your Winning Strategy were a testament to the power of learning with community, and the transformations that are possible when we bring people together to engage in immersive, interactive, and peer-led learning experiences. We learned a lot by building and operating these communities, and we can’t wait to share our insights with you in 2023. 

As we wrap up the year with a product that looks and feels like luxury (thank you, Takiyah Amin, for that feedback), and is as easy to use as an iPhone (not our words, take it from Alistair Daynes), we are more confident and dedicated to forging a path forward. 

The future may be unknown but it is ours to create. What we know, and what we are betting on, is that capturing and sharing human knowledge is essential to building a better world. Learning community entrepreneurs are enabling this collective wisdom to be experienced in ways that allow more people across the globe to access learning with community. 

This democratization and decentralization of community-powered learning has the potential not only to change the education industry but the world. Because learning empowers people to be better, do better, and imagine more possibilities. And community is the foundation for connection, belonging, and growth. 

Together, they are a powerful force for change. And you are the brave agents of that change. 

We thank you and we are eager to reconnect in 2023 with some exciting updates and announcements, and more ways to learn, engage, and grow with Disco.
