On average, clients who attend a first time homebuyers class have an increase in housing sustainability, per HUD, Department of Housing and Urban Development. Homeownership education and counseling helps consumers understand their lending options, avoid scams, and be informed and empowered when it comes time to purchase their home. CAF goes above and beyond, by not only bringing excellence to First Time Homeownership Classes but also bringing in industry professionals to discuss the ins and outs of making homebuyins a successful purchase. CAF works with low-to-moderate income families, and also caters to both an English and Spanish speaking audience with skilled, bilingual staff. In CAF’s last homebuying class, on December 12th and 13th 28 families attended and how have the information resources and connections to make an empowered decision and purchase for their families. COVID-19 Ready in Baltimore City
As part of CAF’s holistic partnership with local Maryland Churches, the Baltimore community, with the help of La Iglesia de Dios de la Profecía in Baltimore, hosted a food distribution where hundreds of families received fresh fruits and vegetables, information and resources for parents including diapers and toys, and COVIDReady resources which included Covid test kits and information from the Maryland Department of Health. Most First-Time Homebuyer Programs require that applicants complete a pre-purchase homebuying class, after the class participants receive a certificate of completion and have the option to have a one-on-one housing counseling session.
