Merry Christmas &
2023 Nationals Entries OPEN

December 2022

The end of an incredible year for the Larks. The class has seen growth in membership and sailors on the water. We had an amazing National Championship at Pentewan Sands, a shiny new website, alongside fantastic competition at opens hosted by South Staffordshire Sailing Club, Barnt Green Sailing Club, Rock Sailing and Waterski Club, Frensham Pond Sailing Club, Pentewan Sands, Banbury Sailing Club, Salcombe Yacht Club's Salcombe Gin Regatta, Waldringfield Sailing Club and Itchenor Sailing Club.
On behalf of all the competitors, we'd like to say a big Lark Class thank you to everyone that made it possible for us to go afloat this year through their organisation, volunteering, safety cover, race management, driving us to events and supporting us along the way. #ThankYou! ❤️
2023 is looking equally as epic as the year just gone with our National Championships in May at Brixham Yacht Club. We can't wait....ENTRIES ARE NOW OPEN
See Lark Nationals Webpage  for all the info and how to enter.
Another exciting development was seeing more Synergy Marine New Larks taking to the water at both Class and Open Events around the country. There has been a lot of interest in the boats and another big Thank You to Simon Cox for his hard work and passion in delivering the future of the class.
We'd also like to thank our valued sponsor Musto for their continued support of the class. And if you are looking for any last-minute Christmas gifts they have plenty to choose from...
On behalf of the Class Association, we'd like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing you out on the water taking part in one of the most competitive, friendly and family-orientated sailing fleets in the country.

Extension of Lark Spinnaker Pole Trial

Those of you who attended the AGM or read the AGM papers will know that your Committee is proposing to hold a vote on allowing a longer spinnaker pole.

A lot of work has been put in by Samuel Bailey, Chris White and Nigel Hufton, including trials on boats at South Staffs, talking to class sailmakers and other classes who have made similar changes.
All the info can be found in the Lark Pole Length Proposal document.

The plan was to hold a vote in December, but following a good discussion at the AGM and a number of questions/concerns that people have raised with the Committee since then, the trial has been extended to allow more people to see and experience the new longer pole.

Therefore, the Class is going to purchase 2 longer spinnaker poles for use in Lark club racing, and Lark Open meetings between the Dinghy Show and the start of the Lark Nationals in late May. We will devise a rota, and Lark sailors can use the new pole on their own boats in a racing environment. Dispensation will be given for use in Open Meetings - but not the National Championships - after which we will move to a vote to adopt or reject the longer pole option.

I would like to thank all those who have been involved in the trial to date, without whom we wouldn’t be able to further trial this potential development.
