Following the success of our Autumn 2022 Forums the EngBio IRC is delighted to announce registration is now open for our next Engineering Biology Forum on 31 January 2023.

We are pleased to announce that EngBio IRC has received the Small Grant for Impact and Knowledge Exchange to fund our project “Applying Open Tools and Resources”

Led by the Cambridge University Synthetic Biology Society, the iGEM team project, “AdaptR” won a Gold Medal, and received a nomination for the ‘Best New Basic Part’ special prize at the iGEM Grand Jamboree.

Science Media Centre Experts
The Science Media Centre (SMC) in London is looking to increase its pool of experts. The SMC has an extensive database of experts who provide comment on breaking stories, emerging issues, helping ensure that science is accurately represented in the media. Supported and funded by the University, the SMC exists to make sure that the best experts are heard by the public when science is in the news.

Zoology/CCC Equality & Wellbeing Event
2nd February, 4pm

The Department of Zoology and Collections Connections Communities are hosting a lecture “Why museums are good for everyone: cultural heritage, health and wellbeing”. The lecture will be given by Helen Chatterjee, Professor of Human & Ecological Health at UCL, and currently the Arts and Humanities Research Council’s Research Programme Director for Health Inequalities.  It will be held on 2 February 2023 at 4pm in the Main Lecture Theatre at the Department of Zoology, followed by a drinks reception in the Whale Hall of the Zoology Museum. Award Lectureships for Early Career Academics (close 23 January)

These Award Lectures aim to promote open and informed discussion of science and related disciplines. The selected lecturers receive an all-expenses paid trip to the festival where they will present their lecture, as well as public speaking coaching and a £250 honorarium.
