West Hartford United Methodist Church

Invitation Dinner

What better time of year to show off our congregation to folks outside of our community than the Christmas season? That's why we've decided to do an informal dinner at 5:30 p.m. this coming Sunday evening, Dec. 18th. It's going to be simple -- chicken and salad, the same meal we prepare once a month for the South Park Inn -- and afterwards we'll sing some carols (a cappella).
We hope you'll invite someone you know who's not a member of the church to join us, so they can see what a warm and welcoming community we are. There's no better advertisement I can think of for WHUMC than to meet our people, and see how we put our faith into practice.

Please RSVP by Friday afternoon, and let us know how many people you'll be bringing. Also, if you'd be interested in helping to cook, or setting up, let us know ASAP.

I think this will be a fun evening, and a good chance to introduce ourselves to some new people. Join us, and spread the word to those who haven't yet been part of the church!

Peace & Blessings --
Pastor Bill

No experience is necessary and training will be provided. If you are interested in being part of the team or you would like to
learn more about the operation of the sound booth, please contact me (Alberto) at whumc1959@gmail.com.

DIAPER DRIVE

During the months of November & December, 2022, the West Hartford United Methodist Church will be having a DIAPER DRIVE to support the local food pantry. Please drop off your donations in the bin by the front door of the church. Diapers of all sizes, especially sizes 4, 5, & 6 and Pull-ups are needed, along with wipes, and feminine hygiene products. There is also a need for toiletries such as toothpaste & toothbrushes, deodorant, soap, shampoo, shaving necessities, and other related items. Please consider picking up an item or two while you’re shopping to drop off in the bin by the front door of the church, church office or Narthex.

What is Coffee Hour?

After an extended period of time, coffee hour after the service has been resumed.
This gives individuals the opportunity to enjoy fellowship while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea and a snack.
Coffee is prepared and set up by Karen Loveland.
The large coffee pots will be emptied and washed out by Pastor Bill.
Paper plates, bowls, cups and napkins as well as sugar, diet sweetener, etc., are provided by the church.
Baked goods such as cookies, pastry, cupcakes and cakes are provided by the church and stored in the kitchen freezer. If you wish to provide your own baked goods you may do so.
The process of hosting a coffee hour has been simplified to encourage people to participate.
The coffee hour host provides –
-A large container of lemonade, or fruit punch.
-A healthy snack such as fruit or goldfish crackers.
-A gluten free snack such as popcorn.
- Half and half creamer.
The coffee hour host is responsible for the set up and clean up.
Seasoned coffee hour hosts will be more than happy to show new hosts where coffee hour supplies are kept.
A signup sheet will be outside the kitchen. Please note if you wish to have help.
