Happiest holiday to everyone. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Diwali, Hanukkah or Kwanza, or even if you prefer to celebrate Festivus for the rest of us, for you Seinfeld fans, this time of year is special for many reasons. For me, this holiday season is a chance to celebrate and acknowledge that another year is coming to an end; to spend even more time with family and friends; and to start looking ahead to 2023 with excitement.
For our firm, 2022 was an incredibly busy and joyful year. We finally made our big move into our beautiful, modern, open and light-filled office. We are thrilled to welcome our clients, friends and staff to this awesome new space. Recently, we celebrated our first in-person employee holiday party since 2019 here in our wonderful office and it was a resounding sensation. We hailed our 35th anniversary with appreciation and gratitude. We held a fabulously successful Women Helping Women event, also the first in a few years, hosting more than 140 guests supporting Box United – Fight Like a Girl, collecting cash donations and gifts for the young women they serve. And, we greeted many new attorneys, paralegals and staff members who joined the firm, adding a group of attorneys focusing on Elder Law and expanding our bandwidth in the estate planning area. No, this was not a typical year at all.
Now, we are also taking the time to look forward. Considering the future, our firm has embarked on its new strategic direction that will guide our path as we look at 2023 and beyond. In support of our younger attorneys, our more senior attorneys have spearheaded a nine-month training program with our associates to teach them the ways of business development and how to better serve our clients on the needs they may have. Given the pandemic and the shifting tides sweeping the law industry, the last three years have provided us the opportunity to take a step back, learn a great deal about ourselves and the firm and we are making positive strides with needed changes that will greatly benefit our employees and our clients.
Years ago, we made a point of stressing to our employees that our culture “balances commitment to clients with an endorsement of family.” We believed then, and still believe now, that “Chuhak & Tecson is both the place to practice law and the place to put life into practice.” Little did we know in 2010 when we put these words to paper how true they would be and how they would guide us so well more than 10 years later.
So, here’s to 2023! We greet you with anticipation, excitement, hope and wonder — all with an eye towards another bountiful and joyful year ahead.
