Dear People of Hope,
As we prepare for Christmas at Hope, we have had some fun.
Last week we welcomed around 150 people to visit Hope and pet some farm animals for the Advent Petting Zoo. This was our 3rd year and largest turn out for this event. Living Water Seventh Day Adventist church joined us, also inviting friends and family. In the middle of the afternoon, we gathered to hear the Christmas story and sing together, including kids with percussion instruments. It really was a joyful event.
We packed 35 finals kits to support students through this stressful time. Apparently years ago, Hope decided to give students only healthy snacks; but this year a few newcomers didn't get this information. So alongside tea and granola bars, students received chocolates and Oreos. When I told students of our "mistake," they cheered!
Now, our ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton reads the Christmas Story here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjV2nS2c4LE
Join us this Sunday as we decorate the church after worship. We continue to work and worship together in this holy season.
Peace of Christ, Pastor Julie

Gifts of Hope - local giving this Christmas starting now!
Jesus’ birth changed the world forever. This holiday season, we too can transform the lives of others through more meaningful giving. Donate through our Synod’s Gifts of Hope program and you will support local and global organizations with proven track records of helping those who need it most. Operating since Advent 1992, Gifts of Hope has raised and disbursed almost $4 million to two church camps, four ministries, three international companion synods, and many local social service agencies affiliated with the Synod. These funds have helped the homeless, the hungry, the young, the elderly, immigrants, refugees, jobseekers, seminary and college students, and those seeking to improve their lives. Visit the Gifts of Hope table in the entryway after the service to pick up a catalogue or go to GiftsOfHopeDC.org to learn more.
Buy Gift Cards that benefit Hope physical cards and online options
Hope continues to be enrolled in the Scrip gift card fund raising program, which is now called RaiseRight. The program allows you to purchase gift cards at face value with a percentage of that value going to Hope as a rebate. RaiseRight has an amazingly extensive list of participating retailers of all types, so this is a great opportunity to purchase gifts for everyone on your shopping list -- or groceries or other items you need yourself -- while benefiting the church.
E-gift cards are available through Scrip at any time. If you were not previously registered with Scrip/Raiseright, just use this enrollment code to enable Hope to receive the rebate: DB1216C863874.
Hope is Hiring starting now!
Hope's wonderful Administrative Assistant, Beth, has to resign from the position due to family needs. We are grateful for Beth's 5+ years of faithful service and we pray for her transition. Hope is now seeking a new Administrative Assistant. Find the job description on Hope's website and share it with any people or networks who might be interested.
