Make your donations count this holiday season. If you, or someone you know, plan to donate, do your research before giving to a charity. The Federal Trade Commission offers many practical tips on what to know before donating, how to avoid fake charities, and how to report charity scams.

Holiday Shopping and Scams

Fraud and scams take many forms, including scams through online ads and travel bookings, peer-to-peer payment platforms, stolen gift cards, fake charities, fake shipping issues, and theft of porch packages, among others. During the holidays, already rampant fraud is expected to spike. Learn more about fraud during the holidays by checking out AARP's report, Holiday Shopping and Scams Survey of U.S. Consumers Age 18+.
