Happy Holidays, Friends and Neighbors~

As we turn to end-of-year reflections and appreciations, we wish to include and invite you to support your local arts organizations.

For us, we are grateful for how you, our community, continue to show up for classes, presentations, and plays. We had a feeling you were ready for in-person Cabin Fever and StageFlight events, and indeed we filled the rooms. We wanted to make Heritage Night extra special, and we ran out of chairs. We wanted to convert Kaleidoscope to a week-long event, and over sixty children flocked to our inaugural Under the Pines summer camp.
To celebrate returning to in-person events, we began Cabin Fever a month early last season with special holiday classes. We welcomed new events and instructors, including the conversation evenings and travelogue collaborations with the McCall Public Library. These events are already scheduled for 2023, so stay tuned.

We celebrated the reopening of the Alpine Playhouse with a full house attending StageFlight. For Heritage Night, people stayed a full hour after the presentations to ask questions and soak up more wisdom from Grandmother Perci and Joisah Blackeagle.
Chimney sweeps and umbrellas descended on Roseberry this spring with a run of Mary Poppins. We brought Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory and Oceania’s Moana to Pilgrim’s Cove Camp. This fall we returned to the Alpine Playhouse with The Girl Who Swallowed a Cactus. The number of children auditioning continues to grow, so we’ve initiated additional after-school Creative Campus classes.
We’re excited to welcome Krista Rauch as our new Executive Director. Krista brings experience as an office manager, executive assistant, and event coordinator. She also sports an entrepreneurial spirit, having operated her own photography and graphic design business for 15 years. Please join us in welcoming Krista as she organizes the 2023 Cabin Fever season, strengthens our collaborations with other organizations, and broadens our programming for adults.

While compiling grant reports last year, we realized how often we sent press releases and ads to The Star-News. We fully expect 2023 programming to continue this trend, both for adults and children.
Children’s Theatre productions alone require countless hours of shuttling across the valley, emails and newsletters, rehearsing, and managing costumes, props, and food. We can only do this with the help of volunteers, parents, and the extra staff we hire.

We experience firsthand how the arts inspire and support people in our community. Time and time again, we hear parents say, “Your program saved my child.” And, what would winter be like without the escape of Cabin Fever events?  With the early onset of cold and snow, we're already planning on mitigating the ennui of late winter with bright, engaging, and inspiring events.

We also want to provide opportunities to financially support talented creatives and scholars in our area. We want to provide more history and humanities-based programming—we know we’ve been short here and have an eye on catching up in 2023.
This all happens because of community support. Because again and again you register for classes, open these emails, show up for the free events, buy play tickets, and give us feedback in the checkout or post office lines. When we think about who the McCall Arts and Humanities Council is, it’s all of us.

There are several ways to partner with us. Sponsor an event, make an annual contribution, or join others in making MAHC part of your monthly giving. Every dollar helps and stays right here in the community. Help keep the arts, inspiration, and these opportunities thriving in our region.

We are grateful for all your support.

May your holidays be bright and beautiful,
The MAHC Board and Staff
