(Opinion) CalMatters - Last week the CPUC overhauled California’s rooftop solar regulations, reducing payments to homeowners for excess power but providing nearly a billion dollars in incentives to encourage more solar projects for low-income homes. Commissioners called the new rules - adopted unanimously after hours of highly charged public comments that were almost entirely opposed - a much-needed course-correction to California’s 27-year-old residential solar rules.
California Air Resources Board - On December 15th CARB approved the final 2022 Scoping Plan, a world-leading roadmap to address climate change that cuts greenhouse gas emissions by 85% and achieves carbon neutrality in 2045. The 2022 Scoping Plan provides a detailed roadmap to guide California away from its current dependance on petroleum and fossil gas to clean and renewable energy resources.
NRDC California solidified its position as a climate leader this year - securing more than $1 billion in the state budget for clean and healthy homes, establishing clean buildings targets, and eliminating outdated incentives to connect new properties to the gas system. Decarbonizing our buildings is an urgent task. Cost-effectively cutting these emissions requires replacing gas-burning appliances with clean, highly-efficient electric appliances powered by the increasingly renewable electric grid.
Utility Dive  Clean energy investments soared in a recent three-month period, totaling $40 billion and equaling the entire amount invested in 2021, according to an industry group. The report by American Clean Power, a trade group, covers a period of growth the clean energy sector saw between Aug. 16, the day the Inflation Reduction Act was signed into law, and Nov. 30, including the announcement of 20 new clean energy manufacturing facilities or facility expansions.
