Thanks again to everyone who came out to our first Happy Hour on December 5th! We had a great turnout, and it was great to see so many familiar faces and meet all the new folks who popped in to say hi. Stay tuned for news on the next one!
In the meantime, here’s what we’re up to:
First, we’re laying the groundwork for next year’s programming, which includes small events like the Happy Family Happy Hour, mid-sized events like What is Asia?, and last but not least—the third edition of our annual mega-festival: Happy Family Night Market!
Second, we’re welcoming two new members to our Cooperative Steering Committee, and nearing completion on the first draft of our cooperative bylaws: the document that spells out how Happy Family Night Market will be collectively governed and managed. The bylaws outline how we will share power and ownership with our community through democratic decision-making, participatory budgeting, information transparency, and more. Drafting an organizational operating manual together might sound dry and technical, but we’ve actually found the process to be a surprisingly fun and creative challenge. 🤓 We look forward to sharing more details on our process and progress in the coming months.
