Early Intervention Services |
|
When children are growing and developing, but not hitting expected milestones, it can be challenging and scary for parents and caregivers. The Champaign County Early Intervention (EI) team will work with parents and caregivers to provide interventions that can help a child develop the skills needed to reach these milestones. The EI team will evaluate, plan, and provide support for parents and caregivers, in order to help children from birth to age three acquire the skills needed to meet developmental milestones. Services are provided to families with who are eligible for services based on an identified developmental delay or who have a qualifying medical diagnosis. |
How to Apply for Early Intervention ServicesYou do NOT need a medical diagnosis or a physician referral to apply for an evaluation If you suspect a child (ages 0-3 years) is not meeting developmental milestones, Call the Champaign Co Board office. We will help you with the referral process.

| Be A Guest Chef!Healthy Cooking Class was so popular in its first year that we are doing it again! But this time, Jenny White is inviting community members to participate as Guest Chefs.
Do you know a simple recipe that is “no-bake” or cooked in a microwave? Would you like to share the recipe with some enthusiastic sous chefs? Contact Community Connections Facilitator, Jenny White, and ask to be a GUEST CHEF!
| | Family Support GroupFamilies need support, too! The CCBDD offers a Family Support Group, occasionally offering family-friendly activities.
Family members of anyone receiving services from the CCBDD are welcome to RSVP and attend. These meetings are a great time for families to share experiences, encourage each other, and connect.

Community InvolvementWhen we all support each other, our community is a better place. Here are a couple ways you can get involved and support community members with developmental disabilities. |
FANS NetworkFANS Network is a group of people who are committed to enhancing the lives of individual with disabilities in Champaign County.
How It WorksContact Community Connections Facilitator, Jenny White, with your email address, or fill out the Sign Up form on the CCBDD website. When someone with a disability has a need, you will receive and email with the request. If you can help, simply reply to the email.
Those who sign up for FANS can help more regularly by volunteering for activities, delivering donated items, and donating tickets to shows or special events, gift cards, or everyday items (towels, pillows, cleaning and hygiene supplies, etc.)
| Become a Direct Support ProfessionalA Direct Support Professional (DSP) is someone who provides support to someone with developmental disabilities. A DSP’s job varies from helping with everyday tasks (like cooking and cleaning) to providing transportation to activities and appointments.
DSPs help people with disabilities live more independently and can provide some much needed respite to family members, making this career much needed and very rewarding.
DSPs can work for provider agencies and also independently, making the hours very flexible.

Update on Ohio ISP | Throughout 2022, the SSA department has been preparing themselves and the people they serve for using a new system to document Individual Service Plans (ISP). Currently, each of the 88 Ohio counties have their own individual documentations. The new system, known as the Ohio ISP (OISP) will soon be implemented across the state, making all documentation consistent across all counties. This switch can help in numerous ways, but it all takes time.
CCBDD can assure you that when the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities is ready to support all county boards with switching to the new OISP, Champaign SSAs will be ready! |

Did You Know… | In 2022 the Champaign County Board of DD made a big change to our branding. We changed our colors, our logo, and our website! Some of our website changes meant simplifying information, and other changes included upgrades.
One of the upgrades included providing multiple ways to report Unusual Incidents, including online reporting. Take a look at our new Report An Incident page to discover all options for reporting to our Investigative Agent. |
