"Imagine Love"

Isaiah 35:1-10

Crocuses blooming in the desert. Streams running through the wilderness. Songs of joy. This prophecy about the transformation of the desert into a lush land of blossoming flowers is a metaphor for the grand restoration of the people of Israel after exile. It speaks about wholeness and flourishing, but where is the love? What if love is what leads to flourishing, both then and now? Imagine love.

Make a BIG difference in the lives of retirement home residents with the simple gift of Christmas carols! Joy is guaranteed - for you AND them. Great singing voices are NOT required - just a smile. Bonus points for wearing holiday gear. Songbooks and lead voices provided.

Meet in the Great Hall lobby. Come back to the parlor afterward for hot chocolate, treats, and hanging out.

NOTE: Masks are required in the nursing homes.
THE LONGEST NIGHT SERVICE
Wednesday, December 21, 7 pm

For those who have experienced loss, the holidays can be a particularly painful time, stirring up grief in acute ways. As a result, churches around the world have adopted the practice of having a “Blue Christmas” or a “Longest Night” service during the Advent season. The Longest Night Service is a calm, quiet space with prayer, reflection, and the reminder that God is present with us.

Join us on Wednesday, December 21st at 7:00 p.m. in the Great Hall or via livestream as we partner with three Heights churches (St. Paul’s Episcopal, Fairmount Presbyterian, and Church of the Redeemer UMC) for this special worship service.
CHRISTMAS DAY MEAL FOR SENIORS

Christmas Day is a time to be with family and friends but many of us find ourselves celebrating alone. If you are aged 65+ and a family of one, you are warmly invited to an afternoon lunch on Christmas Day. The lunch will be held at Ho Wah in Beachwood at 12:00 p.m. (attendees pay for their own meal). This is an opportunity to celebrate and share a meal with others in your church family.

Please RSVP to Mary Glazer at 216-789-8434 by December 12th.
UMC-GBGM Cambodia office sends warm Christmas greetings to all our mission partners and friends throughout the world. We hope that you enjoy this video wishing you a Merry Christmas in song. Though we’re not perfect in a cappella with 4 parts, God’s gift is perfect. We’re so grateful for your love and support!

May you experience the incarnation of Jesus Christ in your hearts and lives in this season of Advent!

REFUGEE SPONSORSHIP

As Christians around the world prepare this Advent season for the coming of a baby born to travelers far from home, Church of the Saviour is also preparing for the coming of a family of travelers to Cleveland, far from their homeland. Our very own “innkeeper,” Tim Persons, is searching for an apartment for a family of refugees that will be sponsored by our church for the next year. This family, which will be assigned to us after we find the apartment in the next few weeks, will likely be from Afghanistan or Ukraine—but also may be from Congo, Syria, or Iraq. Like Mary and Joseph after the birth of their baby boy, this family will have fled dangerous living conditions for life in a safer place.
