Letter from the Editor.
This is the story of a girl who cried a river and drowned nothing because she lived in an arid coastal climate in an endless drought.
I told my mom I would look into the water conversations going on in this state because we saw a lot of signs in the San Joaquin Valley regarding the topic. But the fact of the matter is I haven't looked into a dang thing!
I've been really busy making guacamole. Now that I have a lime presser (it also does lemons, nbd!), I cannot be stopped. I am simply very skilled at making guacamole.
Other than making guacamole, I've been staying busy doing random things around town that make me nervous in a social way and not a scary way.
I follow Alyssa Coscarelli on Instagram and she is a fashion icon! She does all the fashion shows and what not. Anyways, she put on a clothes sale with her clothes and her friends and their clothes and I went to it on Saturday. I was so nervous that I would be the worst dressed person at the sale and I was. But that is okay because I still looked fine.
I chased that experience with America's best waffle at Shaky Alibi. It's not like a Portland brunch place with a hour long wait, it had absolutely no wait and truly some of the best waffles I've ever had. I had an Elvis (not because I saw the movie -- I didn't!!!). The bacon was the best bacon I'd ever had and I wish I were exaggerating.
While I dined I saw a parade of Santas for Santa Con and a parade of empty school buses for School Bus Con.
Could you fit more into a day? Yes. I moved a dresser into my apartment and then immediately left for the beach. I haven't been telling my coworkers how much I've been going to the beach because I think they would all be very jealous. But I'll tell you because I live to make you jealous.
I walked the Manhattan Beach walkway and then walked back ON THE BEACH. The sun had already set, so it was dark and I had the whole sandy beach to myself. Oh, except the two surfers who were surfing dangerously, I assume, in the dark.
It's weird how people don't use the beaches after dark in the winter here. People seem to think it's too cold. More beach for me!
Sunday I did some istmas-chray opping-shay (try deciphering that pig latin!). I didn't get any of you presents though, so I don't know why I'm being secretive. You ought to be grateful for this newsletter.
Did I buy a painting this week? Yes. Did I go to a comedy show? Also yes. Did I do laundry for the first time since moving down? Again, yes.
We had some big rain earlier in the week and palm fronds were all over the city! My car almost got hit by the branch of a tree. I suppose trees should play a larger role in deciding where I park.
I do not have a Christmas tree at my apartment and that's because I am going home for Christmas. You are wondering why I am going home if I just got here and I'm here to tell you that's just the way it is! After soiling a 5 lb bag of potatoes, I just can't stand to be here for the holidays. I don't want to accidentally make that a tradition of mine.
Gotta go pick up my laundry out of the dryer.
