For nearly 5 years, Outsiders Farm & Sanctuary has been an incredible resource for animal shelters, animal controls, pig owners, and homeless pigs across the state of Georgia. While most of that work was done via intaking, our outreach has shifted to: providing sanctuary to the animals we committed to first of all, secondly helping owners with home retention and low cost veterinary care such as spay/neuter, hoof, tusk, and sick care.
The responsibility of providing for over 400 animal residents, 3/4th of which are rescued pigs, comes with an extreme financial burden. Unlike for cat and dog rescues, there are zero state or federal funding programs available for shelter operating expenses for a pig sanctuary. Our Sanctuary operates in the red zone for pigs. Georgia struggles with cat and dog overpopulation issues. Very few people show compassion for the animals in our care and our cause, because they view them as, “food” animals, making local and corporate support a challenge. We aren’t giving up though. In fact, we are just getting started.
With your support this year we have been able to make massive strides regarding our organizations infrastructure. Even with an all time low in donations for 2022, we can only imagine how amazing 2023 will be with more monthly supporters, with more regular and consistent funding.
Our mission is in need of your support. We need your help to make sure we can continue our important work into 2023. Our focus for 2023 is sustainability for our organization. Help us meet our funding needs to cover all aspects of efficiently and responsibly running a Sanctuary of this magnitude. Reaching our goal means no more wondering how we will pay for the monthly food, medical, and sheltering expenses. Reaching our goal means strengthening our infrastructure even more to provide the best care for our residents. Reaching our goal means we can do more outreach to help pigs in need through home retention, low cost medical care, and shelter assistance.
