Through the Eyes of Jesus

No one likes being a spectator from the nosebleed section of the stadium. For some, the closer you are to the actual game, the better. Some have even suggested that being a guest on the bench provides a much better perspective and experience than anything else. Yet, what I’ve discovered is that there are a lot of fans who think they could do better if they were playing the game instead of the players on the field of competition. Others believe that if they were the coach, they could guarantee a win. And yet, there are those whose knowledge of the game even surpasses that of the referees or umpires who for whatever reason always seem to need a pair of glasses.

I’ve often wondered if that is what it is like for God in heaven as he looks down on the playing field of life for mankind. Where’s His seat? Some people probably think that He has a seat in the upper most row of the nosebleed section, so far removed from the actual happenings here on earth that He’s lost interest in what’s taking place. While there are other at the other extreme of the perspective that see Him screaming from heaven that we don’t know what we’re doing.

This weekend, I would like to take a closer look at Christmas through the eyes of Jesus. What is it that made Him enter the playing field of life and put on the uniform of humanity?
