We have worked days without a work-related injury or accident.
 
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT 

 
This week the Public Works Department was dedicated to the wind/rainstorm clean up. Ice was cleared from roadways. The trucks were all washed.  One of our trucks broke down and we were able to recover it. Happy New Year to all!!!
 

FIRE DEPARTMENT

Looks like the New Year will be rung in with some heavy rain, please be careful and alert if you are out and about.
 
2022 has been an extremely busy year for the Hebron Fire Department, and I would like to take the opportunity to thank our personnel for their commitment and dedication, our community partners, the Town, and the citizens we serve, for their continued support. Even in an extremely challenging emergency services world, we look forward to continued progress and improvement in the New Year.

This week the fire department responded to 23 tree/wire calls, 17 EMS, 3 service and 1 mutual aid assignment calls.
 

PARKS AND RECREATION 
Hebron Parks and Recreation would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy 2023! We are looking forward a year filled with exciting new programs and activities!
 
A few spots remain in our Babysitters Training class on January 7th!  This entry level course is available for ages 11-17.  Participants will learn appropriate skills necessary to care for children of all ages, with an emphasis on safety and prevention.  Other topics will include diapering, bottle feeding, and interview skills.  Completion of the course comes with a 2 year Babysitter Safety Certification.
 
Our Winter Classic Basketball Camp with Shaun Keane will run every Thursday from January 5th to February 2nd for students in grades 4 and 5 at Hebron Elementary School. It will start right after school and run till 5:00pm, $100 per player. Players will develop skills and a deeper understanding of the game through drills, fun activities and games.
 
Home Alone Safety Is Back on Thursday, January 26th!
Home Alone Safety for Kids is a unique class for boys and girls ages 8-13 who are left at home alone. This interactive course will cover safety for children when they are home by themselves. Each student will receive a workbook that covers house key safety, indoor and safety, gun safety, fires and gas leaks, first aid kit essentials, phone, door, and internet safety.
 
Karate: Instructional karate focusing on building confidence, self-respect, and discipline following the style of Goju ru, made famous by the “Karate Kid” film series. Six-week sessions ongoing sessions, Mondays and Wednesdays in the Gilead Hill Activity Room.  Ages 5-11 5:00pm-5:50pm.  Ages 12+ 6:00pm-7:00pm.  Cost $85 per session. 
 
We are hiring!  The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking applicants for our PREP Before and After School program that runs throughout the school year.  Morning and afternoon hours are available Monday-Friday.  PREP staff plan and implement games and activities, serve snacks, and interact with children grades pre-k through 6th, while acting as positive role models and providing guidance and leadership.  Visit our website or call 860-530-1281 for more information.     
 

 

 

 
NEWS/COMMUNITY EVENTS:

Foodshare mobile produce van is every other Tuesday from 11:15-11:45 at the Church of Hope/Red barn – Corner of Rt 85 & Rt 66.  Everyone is welcome, no forms to fill out.  Please bring your own bags. 

Scheduled dates:

December:  6th and 20th  January 3rd, 17th and 31st.

The Town Office Building and Horton House are currently open to the public.  When possible, the public is encouraged to conduct business electronically, and to continue to use mail or drop boxes located in front of the Town Office Building and Horton House.
