Dear friends and partners, 

As we close the book on another semester in LAUSD, I want to wish you and your families all a lovely winter break, joyful holiday season, and happy, healthy new year. With schools returning more fully to a sense of normalcy this year, we’ve been able to celebrate the season with community events and student performances. See below for some highlights!

I was proud to be sworn in last week for my second term serving the dynamic families, schools, and communities of Board District 4. The past five years have held their fair share of challenges, but we have still managed to drive progress and accomplish great things by putting kids first. Most recently, our ongoing recovery efforts have yielded rising achievement scores, a record graduation rate, and new programs to foster enrichment, wellness, and joy on our campuses.   

There is still plenty of work ahead, and I look forward to a new year, and a new term, to continue building a future where every child has access to the transformative power of a great public education.

Onward to 2023!
