Dear friends and supporters,

Thanks to you, TJC has been able to do a lot of work in 2022 on issues like the death penalty, prison conditions, drug policy, transformative justice practices and more.

We’ve released a research report on prison conditions, supported incarcerated/accused persons and their families, grown our community building work with people in recovery from drug use, organised public events and protests, planned and executed public campaigns, conducted trainings on restorative justice facilitation and harm reduction.

Through these efforts, we’ve mobilised wider support against the death penalty in Singapore, and stimulated critical public conversations about it and other issues related to the criminal justice system, such as the rights of prisoners, and the impact of our drug policies.

As we begin 2023, we’d love to invite you to consider if you can make a commitment - however small or large - to supporting us this year so that we can continue to grow our work and organise in solidarity with communities in conflict with the law, taking small but determined steps towards collective change.

We have TWO funds you can contribute towards:

TJC Operations Fund will cover expenses that sustain the day-to-day work of the collective: fees for the 2 coordinators of our operations, stipends for organisers and interns, website development and hosting, venue and refreshment costs for events, live-streaming events, capacity building, etc.

TJC Support Fund will help working class families of people on death row — especially non-Singaporean ones — with financial burdens like travel and accommodation, living expenses while in Singapore and legal costs like expensive filing fees. Without this fund, there are families who would likely not have been able to afford to come to Singapore for visits.

In 2023, we would also like to expand the scope of the TJC Support Fund to not just cover death penalty cases but any vulnerable person who comes into conflict with the law who might be in need of advocacy, community support and other practical assistance. This includes low-income youth, people in recovery from drug use, previously incarcerated persons struggling to get back on their feet, and more.

You can donate via PayNow using this QR code. If you would like to earmark your donation for the Support Fund, please add “TJC Support Fund” in the reference. Otherwise all donations will go toward TJC’s operations fund!

Alternatively, you can visit https://donorbox.org/fund-our-movement-tjc to make one-off or recurring donations.

I have also attached an activity report which provides more details of our work since TJC was established.

Thank you!

Regards,

Jolovan Wham
