Rachel's Challenge -- Start a Chain Reaction of Kindness and Compassion

Rachel’s Challenge is coming to Sanderson!

Our amazing, Sanderson Student Services team has invited Rachel’s Challenge to provide our students with a powerful social-emotional learning assembly on February 8th, funded entirely through the PTO.

“At Rachel’s Challenge, we create change. We know that hope is the antidote to fear. We know that kindness is contagious, that compassion connects us, that empathy can end isolation. We teach these positive tools and skills to address the causes of school violence and self-harm directly at the source: we don’t treat the symptoms; we cure the disease.”

You're invited to attend the
SHS Rachel’s Challenge
Community Event
February 8th
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

in the Sanderson Auditorium

This evening event is open to parents, community members, and students from nearby high- and middle-schools, but RSVP is required.

Above & Beyond Donations

DONATIONS NEEDED: The PTO is collecting items to give as teacher rewards for going Above & Beyond (covering classes during lunch, planning periods, and even volunteering to stay after school to make up for staff shortages).

Help us keep the reward wall stocked! Drop off at the front office or use the Amazon wishlist link in the sign-up.

Please join us in congratulating the roughly 30 students who will graduate this month!  If you are the parent of an early graduate and have extra tickets that you can share or need tickets, please join the Class of 2023 Facebook Group for ticket exchange information.

Are you a senior in need of a midyear transcript?  Rank and GPA will be recalculated, county-wide, by mid-February. After that, midyear transcripts will be available. Counselors will then automatically send transcripts via Common App. For any other destinations outside of the colleges on the Common App, seniors should follow the transcript request process found here: https://www.wcpss.net/Page/46774

*Attention Seniors applying to 4-yr colleges & wanting a schedule change: Most 4-yr. colleges take course rigor into consideration in admission decisions.  Colleges maintain expectations that senior year course rigor and academic performance will remain consistent or better than past semesters.

For example: UNC-Chapel Hill has released a statement for Spring semester instructing students who are making a schedule change and have already applied to Carolina to submit a schedule change form via their MyCarolina account.  UNC emphasizes that "academic rigor is an important factor in our review, and we want to be sure that the coursework information we have from students is up to date."

Please take the above info into consideration before submitting a schedule change request.  Only requests that meet the conditions found here will be considered.  Students are responsible for notifying their colleges of changes to their schedule.
