Fellow CHCC members,
There have been many changes over the past few months at the club. Some have been more visible - such as the installation of new lighting in the clubhouse - while others you may not yet be aware of.
First off, Noreen Campbell has stepped down as President of the club. Ryan Wright has been elevated from the VP role and was named interim president until the end of the season. The club wishes to extend Noreen a massive thank you for all of the hard work she has done for the club - from championing our New Horizon Grant, securing a new air conditioning unit for the club, helping out with the learn to curl program, being the point person for club safety, and many more things too numerous to mention. We look forward to seeing her on the ice!
Also, we are on track to install a new ice plant over the upcoming off-season. Because CHCC has received a significant grant to facilitate our new ice plant and capital improvements, we must perform an audit or "review engagement" to fulfill the conditions for our grant. An audit is an extensive (and more expensive) assurance that the club's financial statements are free of material misstatements, while a review engagement is meant to ascertain whether or not the financial statements are believable or plausible. To save significant costs, CHCC would like to perform the review engagement rather than a full audit. In order to move ahead with this approach, we need to secure the approval of our membership. An 80% vote in favour of our preferred approach is required.
To that end, we are booking a virtual general assembly meeting of all members on Wednesday, January 25 at 18:00. This meeting will last an hour or less.
In the meeting, John Tobin (treasurer) will outline what we will be voting on to fulfill our grant commitments, and Ken Hollingshead will provide a brief overview of our ice plant replacement project.
