7:30pm - Hope Council Meeting

Dear People of Hope,

This past Sunday at Hope, people received Star Gifts.  At Epiphany we celebrate that the magi came from the east to see the Christ child, that God's saving work was revealed to travelers from afar, that the gift of Jesus is for the wold world.  Epiphany literally means 'manifestation' and we celebrate God made manifest to all.  The magi gave gifts - but first they received a gift from God, the gift of Christ.

People at Hope this week received Star Gifts - a word that may guide where each one of us might see God manifested this year.  We are encouraged to put the star somewhere that we'll see it all year (car dashboard, bathroom mirror, computer screen) and to learn what we can about the word.  What is its dictionary definition, where does it show up in the Bible, how do we see it in our own lives?  If you were not present at Hope but would like to receive a Star Gift to guide your prayer and reflection this year, let me know.  I'll send you one.

Throughout the year, you may be invited to share how you see this word manifesting in your life.  For some, this is easy to see and already happening.  For others, the Star Gift will take some time to make itself clear.  I am hopeful that the Spirit will show up for each of us.

Peace of Christ, Pastor Julie
Monthly Social Gatherings
starting January 26, continuing all year

Saturday morning 5K
Sunday afternoon boat ride
Thursday evening visit to a museum
Friday night movie

Hope folks are beginning to gather for a series of monthly social gatherings.  These will be times when we can be together and just have fun.  They will be events where it is easy to invite friends or neighbors. These may be a mix of online or in-person events, with different people volunteering to "host" each one; this leads to natural variety and lots of fun.  If you’d like to plan one of these gatherings, contact Pastor Julie - or look for a sign-up sheet in the entryway at Hope..
-----
Pastor Julie is hosting the first gathering: Thursday January 26, 10-11am, Breakfast at IKEA.  Join others for free parking, big sunny windows, delicious food and good conversation.
2022 Church Photo Contest
email photos to Pastor Julie by Jan 24

At the end of January, our church gathers online for the annual meeting looking back at ministry throughout 2022.  Since this meeting is by zoom, we're able to share pictures.  If you have photos of church life in 2022, email up to 5 to Pastor Julie by Tuesday January 24.

The "winning" photo will serve as the cover for the annual report.  See all photos at the annual meeting, Sunday January 29, 1:30pm by zoom.
