Monday Morning News.

January 16, 2023

Greetings friends,

On this Martin Luther King, Jr Day, I encourage you to take a moment and reflect. This day is a remembrance not only of the man himself, but also of the legacy that he left and the fight which he engaged in and which is still going on today. As the Prophet Isaiah says, we are called to “learn to do good, seek justice, correct oppression.”

Many of the resources on Rev. King are still published and under copyright so they aren’t easily available online but there are a variety of his sermons available as audio on YouTube. You might also find something interesting in the archives of the Presbyterian Historical Society which has a page dedicated to Rev. King. If you want to take one step further back from Rev. King, read the book that was reported to be in King’s pocket during the Montgomery Bus Boycott: Jesus and the Disinherited, by Howard Thurman.

Peace,

Pastor Noah
