New to CCL? Attend our Informational Session Weds. at 6pm
or check out our Core Volunteer Trainings
This new year brings new one new Congressman, Ryan Zinke; expanded CCL policy initiatives in forestry, building electrification, and permitting reform; new ways for community leaders to show support; and the new focus for us to work on state and local levels as well. Whew! Our national staff have been BUSY!
Our CCL bipartisan focus on and commitment to carbon fee and dividend remains strong, as it is not only effective at lowering emissions, but also necessary to push these other initiatives forward to reach a 50% reduction by 2030. If you watch the national CCL call this month, you'll get a big treat with Drew Jones, who will give us a demonstration of the Enroads climate policy simulator. Hint: it shows the immediate effectiveness of carbon pricing! (Scroll down for details.)
Moving into these new areas will open up opportunities for you - our volunteers! Contact Bozeman@citizensclimatelobby.org if you are interested.
1. Zinke and Rosendale Lobby Teams: 2-5 volunteers interested in taking lobby trainings, researching the Congressmen's priorities, following and participate in future lobby meetings. May lead to the liaison position, the lead relationship builder with the D.C. office and Team leader. Time commitment: 1-2 hours month, with additional hours prior to June and November lobby days. You would have support from the state coordinator until a liaison is appointed. Contact Kristen
2. Statewide Forestry Action Team: If there's interest, this team could guide the rest of us on policies or actions to take locally or on the state or federal level. Members could take CCL trainings, join the national Agriculture and Forestry Action Team (which offers monthly expert guest speakers), and research on their own.
3. State Legislation Team: Find and help us support state legislation that lowers greenhouse gas emissions effectively without hurting low income folks; promotes forest health, or enhances building electrification or energy efficiency. This team meets weekly for 30 minutes Friday mornings during the session.
Contact your group leader (listed below) about these and other opportunities for action in this new year!

January 2023 Monthly Meeting w/ Andrew Jones, Climate Interactive Co-Founder
Saturday January 14th, 11am MT
What will it take to keep global warming below dangerous thresholds? Thanks to Andrew Jones and his team at Climate Interactive, we have answers to that question. They developed the climate simulators, C-ROADS and En-ROADS, that make it easy for users to see how combinations of various solutions will affect global temperatures. As Citizens' Climate Lobby explores legislation to address climate change, these simulators can show us how to get the biggest bang for our buck. (Spoiler alert: Pricing carbon has the greatest impact.) In addition to being the director and co-founder of Climate Interactive, Andrew has worked at the Rocky Mountain Institute and Sustainability Institute. He currently teaches system dynamics at MIT Sloan and the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Climate Policy
Congressional Update
Kevin McCarthy is speaker of the House and the new Rules passed. The Senate will not be back until January 23rd. CCL will be taking this first quarter to see what climate priorities rise to the top for our Members of Congress and encourage us to get to know our new Member of Congress. Let our Congressmen know we are still interested in carbon pricing.
Let's remember what we accomplished in 2022! Of course the largest climate package ever, the Inflation Reduction Act, passed in August and the Growing Climate Solutions Act passed as part of December's Omnibus spending Bill! GCSA passage press release and summary
All the bills that were not passed last year are dead, and must start over with re-introduction! CCL staff understand that there is interest to reintroduce the Energy Innovation Act in the first quarter, and National Climate Adaptation and Resilience Strategy and Reinvesting In Shoreline Economies and Ecosystems Act will also probably be re-introduced.
Now is a great time to reacquaint or introduce yourself and the issues you care about most to our Members of Congress.
