I've chosen a cover

Thank you for your help!

It was a tough decision because when all the votes were tallied, two of them were dead even. These two covers are the ones that were tied, 26-26.

So, as the image above suggests, I had the designer merge the two co-winners. I'm very happy with what he did. Check out the result here

Thank you to everyone who voted. If you voted for one of the other two options, I'm sorry but they lost. They were good too, but the hybrid super-winner is undoubtedly going to please everyone, and nobody will wish the book looked any different whatsoever!

By the way, when you click that link to see the cover design, you'll go to a page on my site dedicated to building a Launch Team (a group of friends and well-wishers who will help me launch the book when the time (soon!) comes).

Just put your email in the box and I'll be in touch regarding book launch stuff. Oh, and you'll also get a free copy of the ebook in advance of the actual launch (!)

Building a comms skills course

At the end of last year an Amsterdam online course-building company reached out to me and asked me if I'd be interested in building a certificate course on Digital Communication Skills. A big hefty contract, something to look forward to and sink my teeth into, arriving just before Christmas? Perfect

So now I'm getting paid to build a course drawing on my experience and passion for communications and content, alongside a helpful and experienced team of Learning Designers and graphic artists and video folks.

Hell yes! I'm so happy to be doing this right up through March.

Here's the other side of it: I'm so challenged by the whole thing. The schedule is tight, the material is unwieldy and I'm deep in the thick of it. Can I compress everything I know (plus learn a bunch of adjacent stuff) and synthesize it into transformational education n the space of about six weeks?

Well, we'll see. Thus, I'm busy. Spending all my time on this.

Regarding the book: I'm now thinking that a sensible release date is late February or March, when my head and schedule are (more) clear.

Luckily, the latest draft of the book is with the intrepid Matthew Watson Jones for editing, so is being strengthened and improved as I write this, even if my focus is, at the moment, elsewhere.

That's it for now!
Cool things I've been loving on the internet

Progress Knight-- In this old-school text-based game you spend your life in medieval times, increasing your skills and juggling your resources to move from beggar to fisherman to knight... and even a a student of the magical arts. Die, and you can be reborn, just a little bit wiser*.
*No, I haven't been playing this lately, but there was a spell in December where it ran in the background as I did stuff. It was a lovely, simple time in my life.

Remote Pep Talks Season Finale -- I put the last episode of Season Two online, it's about speaking with confidence, and about the book-writing process. This is a good place to go for a window into the process.

How our work days become work nights -- As I'm working super hard to keep pace with my course building deadlines, this is a good reminder about the importance (and power) or the monotask.

Launch Team Reminder!

It would be both foolish and silly of me not to invite you once again to join the Launch Team. Join the Launch Team for the Confident Presenter!
