These calls are an opportunity for mentors to hear from seasoned professionals aiming to educate, inspire, and motivate mentors by providing information, tips, and stories of past experiences. Here are six key objectives for Holy Trinity College Counselors who offer scholars college counseling throughout their academic career.
Navigate scholars' college application process through Naviance and Common App
Track scholar credit progress to ensure all requirements are met
Provide in-homeroom presentations and resources for post-graduate options
Schedule college visits
Facilitate seminars for financial literacy
Provide 1:1 sessions for individual guidance and support in achieving academic goals and future plan
Students make appointments directly with counselors. Mentors who wish to meet with a Holy Trinity college counselor and their scholar should connect with Minha who will facilitate the meeting.
Up-to-Date Grade Information via Schoology
Schoology is a useful tool for mentors monitoring scholars' academic progress. Schoology sends weekly email summaries of assignments and grades, which are accessible to mentors. Scholar Academic Tracking Process
Each class at Holy Trinity is assigned an Academic Advisor specifically for PEAK scholars. Academic Advisors meet individually with all scholars on a weekly basis to review current grades, assignments, and assessments. Minha and I review the information and develop and implement plans to best support scholars. This communication is relayed in monthly mentor check-ins. And, mentors are welcome to contact Minha or me anytime in addition to these check-ins.
