Two Opportunities to Share Your Voice

Submit Your Comments on the Design Proposal for Canyon Road & University Avenue

Comment Deadline: January 6, 2023

On Dec. 20, Provo City and UDOT held a virtual public meeting about their plans to redesign the intersection of University Avenue and Canyon Road.

Please visit UDOT's website or or email the project team (
CanyonandUniversity@utah.gov) to voice your support for a safer design for pedestrians and bicyclists before January 6.

The project goals are aimed at improving safety and keeping traffic moving on University Avenue. Unfortunately, the proposed design prioritizes the former over the latter.

While the proposed changes are an improvement, the new design could be better.

Some suggestions include:

  • Adding Leading Pedestrian Interval signaling
  • Adding Two-Stage Turn Queue Boxes and Intersection Crossing Markers
  • Narrowing the BYU driveway and Canyon Road to one lane each way
  • Adding Pedestrian Refuge Islands

Please submit your comments by Friday. It will make a difference!

Submit Comments on UTA's Five-Year Service Plan

Comment Deadline: January 23, 2023

The Utah Transit Authority is Planning for the Future Transit Service in Utah

The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) is developing a Five-Year Service Plan. Our region is growing rapidly. Where and how we grow has impacts on the entire transportation network. This vision for the path ahead works to address these impacts through improvements to the transit system. The Five-Year Service Plan reflects UTA’s intended service based on the best information available.

To learn more about the Five-Year Service Plan and to submit your comments by January 23, visit rideuta.com/FYSP.

BikeWalk Provo Comments on Record Pedestrian and Cycling Deaths in 2022

Telemundo Utah
December 21, 2022

Data released in December from the Department of Public Safety indicate that Utah motorists hit and killed 15 bicyclists and 52 pedestrians in 2022. These are the highest figures documented since 1994 (1994 is the earliest year this data has been readily available).

Watch this short clip (in Spanish) with Kira Johnson, BikeWalk Provo Volunteer Director, commenting on how street redesign to make streets safer for all users (not just cars) should be prioritized in Utah.
