Why a Nature Data Catalog?
For we, as humanity, to take responsibility for our impact on nature it’s gotta be super simple and inexpensive to locate, license, provision, and act on nature data. All MRV Collective members stand to benefit from the success of this project — whether you are a nature data provider collecting samples and observations, an MRV company with sophisticated dashboards and analytics such as Salo, Nature Metrics, and Pachama, or simply a corporation with aspirations to become nature positive. A nature catalog is a fundamental building block of a nature positive future.
Who will own the Nature Data Project?
The responsibility of creating a Nature Data Catalog is too great for a single government, non-profit, or private sector organization. Our vision is stand up a self sustaining business model and put all development and IP under a perpetual trust so that this crucial contribution can remain as a public good.
Who is an ideal fit for the ecosystem realm leads?
We’re looking for people with hands-on nature data experience and deep professional expertise in either data science / engineering or science to help accelerate the building of taxonomies, metadata. We’re not interests in generalists, project developers, or project managers at this time. The commitment is part-time and we see this is a great opportunity for organizations building in the space to collaborate towards shared purpose and outcomes.
