| | | | Customer Service. Collaboration. Communication | | Dear Neighbor, What a year 2022 has been!
A lot of positive things in the way of development, infrastructure, and programs occurred last year.
As we enter 2023, we will have more positive news to share on Silver Lane Plaza, Founders Plaza, and, if we work hard, a Youth Sports Facility. This year we will continue to make Customer Service, Collaboration and Communication our priority, but we also have three new “C’s” to add to our vocabulary in 2023 and they are Contractors, Cranes, and Construction.
The overarching theme of 2023 for East Hartford is Development. With Silver Lane Plaza, the Rentschler Field Logistics Center, Concourse Park, Riverview Apartments, Founders Plaza, Church Corners Inn, McCartin School, and the Main Street Post Office site – we have a lot of ambitious plans to share.
Please join me on Thursday, February 16 from 6:30 to 8 PM in the Auditorium of the Community Cultural Center for the Community Town Hall Meeting where I share my vision and set goals for East Hartford in 2023.
At the Town Hall Meeting, I will present the updated and refreshed “Control Tower 2023” - a strategic planning and communication document that outlines development projects, infrastructure projects, and program projects to continue to move East Hartford forward. At that meeting, you will meet all of your directors, including the Police Chief and Fire Chief, and have an opportunity to ask questions of them and me!
This will be another great year for the Town of East Hartford and I need you to believe in it and be part of it! -Mayor Michael P. Walsh | | | | | | All Town Hall departments are now located at the Community Cultural Center at 50 Chapman Place. They will remain there for the duration of the Town Hall construction. The Town Clerk’s Office is located in the business trailer in front of Town Hall, to enable continued access to the vault.
Public parking for the Community Cultural Center can be found in the lot behind the Town Green/Alumni Park.

| | Church Corners Inn PurchaseThe Town of East Hartford has purchased the Church Corners Inn property located at 860 Main Street.
The 110 year old building was built in 1913 and has been the source of crime, health and safety issues, panhandling and overall disruption of East Hartford’s Main Street.
The acquisition of Church Corners Inn aligns with Mayor Mike’s vision to stabilize a problem property on Main Street, promote economic development and enhance the overall experience for the community along Main Street.

| Does a perfect pound cake exist? Yes, it does! In fact, there is a whole selection of them right around the corner at Perfect Poundcakes, located at 221 Burnside Avenue. The name speaks for itself. They have your perfect pound cakes, no questions about it. “Like a lot of good family stories, Perfect PoundCakes started with grandmother’s secret recipe,” owner Tamika Mitchell shares on the business’ website. But grandma’s secret was never written down, so it was up to Tamika and her husband to figure it out. Together, they pounded away in their home kitchen to perfect their unparalleled pound cake recipe. Thanks to their commitment and hard work, their pound cakes are now available at their Burnside Avenue store. Over the years, this small local business grew its clientele and now welcomes pound cake lovers from all over Connecticut and neighboring states. In addition to offering a wide variety of pound cakes at the store, Perfect Poundcakes takes larger orders for birthdays, celebrations, corporate events, and more! And what about a pound cake in a jar? They are Tamika’s new invention and are already becoming a favorite! But wait…there is more! Your orders can be shipped and delivered, too! Stop by Perfect Poundcakes at 221 Burnside Avenue to satisfy your sweet tooth! | | | | BUSINESS RESOURCES | | | | | | | | | Message from the Fire Chief Winter is not gone yet! We are about to see a period of severe cold hit our area. With that, we would like to take a moment to remind all residents to be careful when outside. When the temperature reaches extreme lows, limit the amount of time you spend outside, cover all exposed skin, and dress in layers. Lastly, please check on the elderly and those living alone. Children, the elderly, and medically fragile persons are more susceptible to cold injuries than others. The Town of East Hartford offers warming centers (no additional services provided). We welcome those who are seeking refuge from extreme cold to use the Public Safety Complex lobby. As always, our offices are prepared to answer any questions you may have about fire safety. And don’t forget, our Fire Marshal’s office is always available for free smoke alarm installation. The FMO can be reached at 860-291-7405. -Chief Kevin Munson |
