Dear friends and art lovers,

As we welcome the New Year, I’m feeling inspired and hopeful for the future.

The joy of being together in-person seems to have finally begun its long-awaited return, and I am relishing the potential of life reopening in 2023!

The great pleasure of gathering together, with all of the playfulness and spontaneous fun, has long been a feeling I aim to capture in my paintings, and I am excited to share some new works and other updates that embody this renewed sense of hope and possibility.

Wishing you all a healthy and happy New Year,

Lana Gordon

FEATURED PAINTINGS

Nothing says celebration louder than champagne and party chatter!

These two available paintings, titled “Party Chatter” and “She’s Drinking Champagne Again,” are part of a series that uses a deep red field, punctuated by delicate, upward flowing, multicolored dots that give the impression of champagne bubbles floating effortlessly up one’s glass, popping deliciously on the tongue to spark joy and mark a festive occasion.

To me, these works perfectly capture the celebratory spirit of the season. Check out some of their luscious details below!

PAINTING UPDATE

In keeping with the theme of opening up and embracing a hopeful new future, I’d like to share the drastic transformation of this fun (and available) painting.

What began as “Fun House” (left), later became “Garden of Happiness (center), and has finally become the finished piece I knew it could be in “Flamingo Garden” (right).

This transformation to me encapsulates that optimism and potential for good things to come that I am bringing with me into 2023. Check out some of gorgeous details from the finished work below.

WHAT’S INSPIRING ME

One of the highlights of last year was the great privilege of visiting the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at the PHI Foundation for Contemporary Art in Montreal.

Stepping into her immersive installations felt like falling in love - in an instant the world transformed completely into an even more beautiful and magical place. The optimism that life’s next transformative gifts might be just around the corner is something I have long aimed to distill in my paintings, and to experience work that does that job so completely will undoubtedly fuel me through this coming year.
