VR HUNKEN is +30 NTM (Nordic Total Merit), now with his new January interim proof, and an exciting bull for all types of herd environments. He has production and udders for the high-input ProCROSS herds; but also offers moderate body size and hoof health for grazing.
VR HUNKEN offers indexes at 119 and 113 for fat and protein pounds, respectively. Then, check out his 126 for fat% and 125 for protein%.
He has a moderate frame score (98). Use him on your tallest Holstein- and Monty-sired ProCROSS because he sires cows shorter in stature (87) but with lots of width (111) and body condition.
VR HUNKEN’s udder composite is 115—a 5-point increase since his August proof! The VR HUNKEN’s will have especially strong attachments, both fore (125) and rear (114). Plus, ideal teat placement (105 front, 103 rear). Feet and legs composite is 117.
VR HUNKEN is also a good choice if your herd can benefit from improved claw health (115) and longevity (114). Daughters are expected to be easy to work with (108 temperament) and milk out quickly (110 milking speed).
VR HUNKEN is sired by VR HAGI, and his dam is by VR FILUR, a bull that sired a lot of successful ProCROSS cows for our customers in the US. The VR FILUR dam has started her second lactation, and she averages 6.1 pounds of fat plus protein daily—not too shabby for a young purebred VR cow!
VR HUNKEN’s granddam also continues to accumulate an awesome lifetime record in the same Swedish herd where VR HUNKEN was born. She now has 88,000 pounds of milk-to-date in her 5th lactation. This family stamps protein, and all 4 of VR HUNKEN’s closest dams have over 4% protein lifetime.
