Hi <<First Name>> and thanks for reading the Ph-word also in 2023!
What do you think was the biggest ph-news of 2022? We think it was the possibility of the James Webb Space Telescope breaking up what we know in cosmology. (Also taking a photo of the black hole at the heart of the Milky Way.) (Also, maaaybe re-measuring the mass of neutrinos.) You can read about all these here.
No, actually, the part about James Webb you'd better read here, at December's post. Because this titillating piece of news started coming together only last month. By the way, this might be the best-written post I've ever written, for reasons that become obvious in its first paragraph.
Finally, something for ph-readers in Athens, Greece: On Sunday 15th I'll give a talk about dark matter at the astronomical observatory at Pendeli. This is organised by the greek union of amateur astronomers and it's intended for everyone, so you don't have excuses like "but I don't know what dark matter is" for not coming. Come enjoy the talk or at least the great view and say hi. (We gather at 18:30 to start a little later, and will finish before 20:00.)
Have a bubbly year.
