Happy 2023!

Sometimes January can feel like a time of isolation…we are back home after the holidays, perhaps spending a bit more time indoors as the temperatures drop…and it can sometimes feel like being on your own island. It is at this time of year when it is important to remember to create connections and build bridges to solidify the relationships with those around us.

In the Marooned Combination Instant Challenge, come up with a story of separation, and then build a bridge to reconnect. Or, come connect with us by volunteering at the Maine State Tournament on March 11th in Belfast! Learn more about what it means to be a Team Challenge Appraiser below.

FAQ - Is it too late to register?

It is NOT too late to register your team!! The DI Roadmap that is included when you purchase a Team Number provides a step-by-step planning guide for Team Managers with a suggested itinerary for 8 weeks. So, if you start meeting this month, your team can be ready to present their challenge solution at the March 11th Tournament! We can’t wait to see you there!

Instant Challenge

Create connections between Performance-Based and Task-Based Instant Challenges, in this Combination Instant Challenge, Marooned! Create a story about how an island is formed, and then build a bridge to reconnect!

Volunteer Role

Team Challenge Appraiser - No DI Tournament is possible without appraisers, or judges, to watch and evaluate teams. At a tournament, appraisers set the scene for the teams that have been preparing their solutions for weeks, or even months, ahead of time. Appraisers can wear silly hats, share in the excitement for creativity, and are a big part of the design process!

A team challenge appraiser evaluates a team’s performance. As a Team Challenge Appraiser, you will watch the challenge solutions, score particular elements, and chat with Team Members to learn more about how they solve the challenge. You will empower youth by giving them the chance to share their journey, and providing encouragement on virtual sticky notes! Sign up to be an appraiser today!
