Mobile Robotics State Contest - Middle School Status

If you are interested in participating in the Mobile Robotics Middle School state contest in April, we need you to let us know very soon, hopefully before the end of this week.

The national MR competition will be different from the high school competition, using different fields and game pieces.  We (NC) always likes to follow the national's contest (as much as possible) for our state contest.
The middle school MR 2023 game manual is linked to our website (click here).

If we have Middle School teams competing in our state contest, we will need to secure the appropriate field and game pieces.
If someone has these that we can use for the state contest in April, that would be a blessing!  If not, and we have registered teams, we will need to purchase these items, well in advance.

1. If You are interested in registering team(s) for the Mobile Robotics contest state this year, please email us with your intent - info@SkillsUSAnc.org.
2. We also would like to know if you have the field and/or game pieces required this year, and if you would be able to share these with us in April.

Start planning now for SkillsUSA Week. The annual celebration is Feb. 6-10, 2023, and you can participate in many ways: Honor your community supporters, connect with local business and industry professionals, or make a presentation about your CTE program and SkillsUSA chapter. We encourage you to follow the daily schedule of events for local chapters nationwide.
  • Monday, Feb. 6, Recognize and honor members, advisors, administrators, business partners, community leaders and supporters who make a meaningful impact on your CTE program and SkillsUSA chapter.

  • Wednesday, Feb. 8, Partner Day. Invite local business and industry leaders to connect with members, highlighting the importance of career-readiness skills and the SkillsUSA Framework.
  • Thursday, Feb. 9, Advocacy Day. Amplify CTE in your community by conducting a local public relations activity such as presenting to school board members, administrators and community leaders.
  • Friday, Feb. 10, SkillsUSA Day. Celebrate SkillsUSA by wearing your favorite SkillsUSA T-shirt, holding a celebration activity or by posting SkillsUSA Framework stories on social media using the hashtag: #SkillsUSAWeek and #SkillsUSANorthCarolina.

New Report Highlights "The SkillsUSA Advantage"

A new report from the Student Research Foundation affirms what more than 14 million members served since 1965 already know: SkillsUSA involvement better prepares students for personal and professional success. “The SkillsUSA Advantage” report shows that SkillsUSA members consistently outperform peers not enrolled in a career and technical student organization (CTSO) in seven key areas, including meeting potential employers, being excited about their chosen career path, gaining work experience, being excited about school and more. Among the more than 27,000 high school students surveyed, this SkillsUSA advantage holds true regardless of gender, race/ethnicity or socioeconomic status. The report clearly underscores the importance of removing barriers to ensure that all potential members have an opportunity to join. Share this validating new report with administrators, partners, parents and more to help spotlight SkillsUSA’s life-changing, career-shaping effect. Download "The SkillsUSA Advantage."

Show Us what You Made... and What You're Made Of!

SkillsUSA is still showcasing the great accomplishments our students make every day as skilled workers and leaders in the #MadeInSkillsUSA social media campaign. Share photos on social media that highlight something your students made with their hands (a construction project, a hairstyle, a culinary creation, etc.) or a personal achievement earned through SkillsUSA (landing an internship, delivering a speech, leading a meeting, etc.). To participate, simply post a photo with the hashtag #MadeInSkillsUSA. Learn more here. For questions, contact Hayley Uffelman, SkillsUSA’s social media manager.
