The family today is under attack today.  It’s tough raising your children in the world, without them becoming “of the world.”  It’s hard to protect them from the dangers and evils so easily accessible in the world today.  You can’t completely keep them in a bubble.  So how do you raise your children to live UpRight in this UpSideDown world?

How do we keep our children from being exposed to stuff that they should never see, read, hear about, or experience personally?

How do we raise the next generation of believers to take on the world in the name of Christ?

This Sunday we’re going to take a quick, God-honoring look at raising the next generation of believers. In fact, eternity alone will reveal the blessing of our efforts to raise the next generation of believers.  It is not going to be easy, but it is eternally important.  Our children’s temporal and eternal future depends on our efforts and God’s grace, Christ’s forgiveness, and the Spirit’s leading.

Help us, O God, to lead our children to Christ and train them in the Way they should go in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Congratulations to Mr. Vinny and A Tasty Touch for receiving a perfect score on the latest GA Department of Health inspection report!
Multi-Generational Family Bible Study Sunday January 22

We are having our first of three planned multigenerational family Bible studies in the cafeteria between services on Sunday January 22. We hope to have the children, youth, parents, and adults together for Sunday school. Families will be joined at their study tables by other members of the congregation.

Come join us for some food, fellowship, learning, and fun. Drinks and treats time goes from 9:10 to 9:30 AM and again from 10:30 to 10:50 AM. The family Bible study goes from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.

Currently our children and adults are studying the same Enduring Faith Bible study curriculum on Sunday mornings. It traces God’s plan of salvation throughout the entire Bible—pointing students to Jesus, their Savior.

The lesson in week 3 on January 22 is “A New Beginning.” Widespread sin and corruption have filled the earth. Noah has found favor in the eyes of the Lord and has been commanded to begin constructing a massive ark with provisions for an extended journey. At the Lord’s direction, each animal boards the ark along with Noah and his family. The fountains of the deep open and rain falls for forty days, swallowing up every living thing. Through the flood God kept Noah’s family safe and lands them on a mountain. He makes them a promise and gives them a new beginning.

By studying God’s word together, we will show that Jesus has called us to a lifelong journey of learning with Him and that, in Christ, we have unity in His promises, love and forgiveness. Parents may also take home some ideas to help carry on biblical discussions with their children throughout the week.

Update on the Pastor Call Process

As you are aware, we have completed the preliminary work for the pastoral call process which was the congregation self-study, the ranking of pastoral characteristics, a demographic study of the local area, and meeting with the Florida-Georgia District President Rev. James Rockey. The Call Committee has been formed and has met with our Circuit Visitor Rev. Jeff Jordan. The next step in the process is to submit nominations for our next pastor.  Nominations from the members of Faith are to be submitted using the paper form that will be available in the Narthex beginning Sunday, January 15th. There is a cover letter attached to each form that explains how to complete it. Please read the instructions carefully and place the completed form in the box. The deadline for submitting nominations is Sunday, February 19th at noon.

In addition, for those church members who were not at the December Voters' meeting where the Pastoral Call Committee members were announced, they are: Karen Cerny (committee chair), Vinny Caracci and Tim Lambert (communications liaisons), Peter Amelingmeier, Emily Brenner, Liz Cain, and Russ Couch. Gordon Stuckert is an ad-hoc member and Rev. Jeff Jordan is our advisor and local on-site district representative.

Look for a letter in your home mailbox shortly that contains more information about how the call process is carried out when calling a pastor in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. As we move through the months ahead, regular updates will be given primarily through this weekly newsletter, email blasts, and Sunday announcements. We will also use USPS mail as needed.  Karen, Vinny, and Tim are the primary people for communicating information to you, but any member of the committee is available to take your questions.

Please be in prayer often as we ask the Holy Spirit to provide guidance, wisdom, and discernment to our congregation members, the pastors being considered for a call, our District President and Circuit Visitor, and the call committee.

Hope's Happenings

Here's a riddle for you: What is 12 x 20 x 10?  Well, in the past 12 monthsmy team and I have made at least 20 visits each month to nursing homes, memory care facilities, schools, shut-ins, Kennestone Hospital, and Cobb County courts, visiting at least 10 people on each visit! That means Faith's Comfort Dog Ministry touched at least 2,400 people with the love of Jesus in the past year!  And, my team and I will be just as busy, if not busier, in 2023.  Please pray for us as we continue this special ministry, and give Peter Amelingmeier a call (770-876-4292) if you'd like to give a day or two each month and be part of our group.

Wishing you God's greatest blessings in 2023,

Hope
