Dear Families,

Our next round of conferences with your students' teachers is just around the corner. Soon, you should be receiving invites from the teachers on how to sign up. These conferences are a great time to discuss your Explorer's growth so far this year and how to partner together to ensure further growth during the second half of the year. Our Early Release Days fall on February 2nd and 3rd, and those afternoons are dedicated as conference times. Teachers will also have other dates and times available as well. To be best prepared for your conference, we highly recommend that you review quarterly reports, portfolios, and MAP reports that went home this past week in advance of the conference. This will help the conference time be more focused on actions steps for the rest of the semester, rather than reviewing data.

The open enrollment period for next school year is well under way. If you are looking to enroll a student next year who is not currently enrolled at TMS, you must complete a lottery application in Lotterease by Friday, February 10th.

For returning students, you will complete the re-enrollment process later in the semester. We would, however, like to know to the best extent possible what open spots we may have for next school year. Please complete the Intent to Return Survey by Tuesday, January 31st. That way if we do have open seats we are able to include them in the running of the lottery. If you have any questions please contact our registrar, Chris Cook.

Tomorrow is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. There is no school. As we take time to reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. King, I would encourage everyone to think about what ways you can serve others. Service towards others is one of the best ways to honor the memory of Dr. King.  For other unique and meaningful ways families can remember Dr. King in and around the Atlanta area, check out this list. I hope you have an incredible holiday. I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday (remember the carpool lane will close at 8:00 so please be on time for school).

Sincerely,

Mike

Book Return

Let's start the new year with a clean library record!  Please look around your homes for any TMS library books and send them in with your student.  Ask your students - even middle schoolers! - what they have checked out from the library and where those books are.  Then have them put them in their backpacks to return to school.  Students are welcome to renew books that they are still reading.  Thank you for your help in keeping our books circulating!
