Are you ready to swoon at the loveliness of local orchestral music? Come enjoy Captivating: Brahms' Symphony No. 1 at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center this Saturday, February 4th, at 7:30 PM.
The works presented in this program are described as delightfully kaleidoscopic in their variety. Yaniv Dinur is guest conductor for the Tulsa Symphony, which will perform the following works:
Edvard Grieg – Peer Gynt Suite No. 1
Carlos Chávez – Symphony No. 2 “Sinfonia India”
Johannes Brahms – Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op. 68
Grieg and Chávez are recognized for their importance as composers whose music reveals the richness of the traditional culture of their homelands. Greig, probably the most well-known Norwegian composer, was interested in bringing Scandinavian folk music into the greater display. Similarly, Chávez, undoubtedly spurred by political and social upheaval, was drawn to the sounds of the indigenous peoples of his native Mexico. This performance is brought to Downtown Tulsa in partnership with Tulsa Area United Way.
