Meet Bad Vlad our eastern box turtle (Terrapene carolina carolina) from Critter Corner.
The eastern box turtle is a subspecies within a group of hinge-shelled turtles, commonly called box turtles. Sometimes confused with a tortoise due to the overall shape and because they are mainly terrestrial, they are in the pond turtle family. Box turtles are slow crawlers, extremely long-lived, slow to mature, and have relatively few offspring per year.
Next time you're at JMDC, stop by JMDC's Critter Corner. If you're interested in sponsoring Bad Vlad or any of our other critters, learn more here: https://jmdc.org/sponsor-a-critter/

Of the 900 tarantula species globally, the Mexican red-knee tarantula is one of the most docile...READ MORE
