all of the people some of the time,
some of the people all of the time,
but you can never please
all of the people all of the time."

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT THE 74TH COLORADO GENERAL ASSEMBLY? READ ABOUT BILLS, RESOLUTIONS, AND MEMORIALS HERE.
"Around the State of Colorado, property values have risen between 40 to 70 percent since the 2021 revaluation, and in these inflationary times property owners and renters are looking at substantial increases in their property taxes or rent when 2023 tax bills arrive next January. In Douglas County, residential property values are set to increase around 50 percent, and with the number of taxing entities that have de-Bruced and are not subject to Tabor revenue limitations, this increase in value will substantially translate to a commensurate increase in taxes.
I have introduced a bill to mitigate this - along with Senator Byron Pelton who is running a companion bill in the Senate. Sen. Pelton's bill creates a Property Tax Task Force that is made up of stakeholders and property tax policy experts who will have a two-year period to study best practice policy for Colorado, and recommend a solution that is sustainable, fair and equitable. My bill is a two-year time-out on our biennial revaluation cycle, effectively skipping the 2023 revaluation and buying time for the task force to complete their work. As introduced, HB23-1054 does include a five percent increase over 2022 property values, and not only retains the assessment rate decreases enacted last year, but extends them to 2024 as well."- Representative Lisa Frizell, HD45
A SAMPLE OF STATE DEMOCRATS'
TAX & SPEND IDEAS FOR 2023
After being sworn into office on January 9, Colorado House and Senate Democrats wasted no time in putting forth their ambitious lineup of outrageous 2023 legislation. The legislation will include red flag and gun restrictions, anti-TABOR grabs, land use, education, health care, property taxes, affordable housing, and more outrageous bills. This is going to be a costly year for taxpayers! Read more here.
STATE DEMS SET TO DISARM LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS
WITH AGGRESSIVE GUN CONTROL BILL
Thanks to reckless Democrat policies, Coloradans are suffering with the highest car theft rate in the U.S., rising crime, fentanyl overdoses, and the terrible impacts of Mexican cartels' drug and human/sex trafficking from the wide-open U.S. southern border.
And how are Governor Polis and State Democrats showing their concern for public safety? They're looking to pass their most sweeping gun control measures to date, the "Mass Shooting Prevention Act of 2023." The bill would define what constitutes an "assault weapon" (including semi-automatic handguns) and would ban the possession, manufacturing, importation, purchase, sale, offer to sell or transfer ownership of an assault weapon. Violations start at a Class 2 Misdemeanor and rise to a Class 6 Felony. Read more here, then contact your county/municipal and state elected officials to voice your opposition to this attack on your Second Amendment Rights.
COLORADO TAXPAYERS BUY $24 MILLION HOTEL FOR THE HOMELESS
Colorado taxpayers just spent $24 million for the Denver Clarion Hotel, a 215-room hotel located on West 48th Avenue, near the Denver Coliseum. The purchase is being made through the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, City of Denver, and Adams County agencies. The hotel will be refurbished to provide "transitional housing" for homeless people. The property will be managed by the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, which has 750 employees and whose CEO makes an estimated $400K per year. Apparently, homelessness is BIG BUSINESS! JANUARY 2023 U.S. INFLATION RATE AT 6.5%
The good news is it appears the U.S. inflation rate or CPI (Consumer Price Index) has continued to slowly decline from its July 2022 record rate of 9.1%. However, the 6.5% CPI doesn't factor in fuel or food prices. Read more here.
