Celebrating PYT's 10th New Year!

In Spring '23 PYT Will ReStage Our First Musical Ever,"Into the Woods Jr."

Auditions for "Into the Woods" will be held in Sweet Bee Theater Jan. 21, 2023

It's fitting that the first musical Pittsboro Youth Theater (PYT) ever produced, "Into the Woods Jr." in 2017, will be performed in our first season at our new North Chatham Performing Arts Center. It's an adventure story!  PYT's long, strange trip through the woods since our first season in Fall 2012 has been a roller coaster, like Act 1 of the classic play–scary, harrowing and fun.

As the first song in the play goes:

"Into the woods, it's time to go, it may be all in vain, I know
Into the woods, but even so, I have to take the journey
Into the woods, the path is straight, you know it well, but who can tell?

Into the woods to lift the spell
Into the woods to visit mother
Into the woods to sell the cow
To get the money
To go to the festival"

India Nykamp and Jacqui Anthenien were very active in Pittsboro Youth Theater for many years. Jacqui was in "Into the Woods Jr." See the pic below.  Mr. Craig taught India how to be a Barista and she used to work at Sweet Bee Caffe when we had a coffee shop in the front room of CFTA pre-COVID. Both India and Jacqui have since gone on to study theater in college, Jacqui in Michigan and India in New York. India still works for us at PYT sometimes when she's back in Pittsboro.

Floor Plan of PYT's New North Chatham Performing Arts Center (NCPAC) Opening April 2023

PYT's new performing arts center plans are about ready; construction starts in January!

In addition to putting on a full set of smashing Fall season shows, Mr. Craig has been working with Architects, Engineers and county building departments to get a full set of NCPAC plans completed. Construction starts in earnest in January.

The new facility will be on the hill behind Sanders Automotive's new facility in Bynum. We are finishing out the inside of a 2-year old metal building, adding parking and many other improvements. The building is currently an empty shell but my oh my what a wonderful improvement our new NCPAC will be over our old Center for the Arts Pittsboro.

Our new performing arts center will have:
• twice the restroom facilities,
• Raked seating for much improved audience viewing for the audience,
• A bigger performance area with bigger wings and from wing to wing backstage,
• A backstage door so actors can change costumes and go to the bathroom without walking through the audience,
• Higher ceilings in the theater for better lighting,
• A Dance Room with a sprung, solid hardwood floor, mirrors and ballet bars,
• A control booth with walls and windows behind the audience,
• Lower monthly lease payments than our current CFTA location with a 15-year lease!!!
• And lots, lots, more.

Check out Miss Tammy's new video introduction to NCPAC!

After dedicating all our personal energies and financial means to build Pittsboro Youth Theater over the past 10 years, words do little to express the thanks that Tammy and I feel having received donations to help us build North Chatham Performing Arts Center.

Congratulations to those who invest with us in a selfless vision
of community improvement! You can be proud that your donation will make a positive difference in the lives of countless children, families, and Chatham County for decades to come.

Today, when so many people's social lives are limited to engaging with others while isolated, "It takes a village to raise a child." is truer and rarer than ever.

We're not out of the woods yet. We still need to raise another $50,000 minimum over the next couple months. We hope the people whose live's have been touched by Pittsboro Youth Theater will pitch in a little or a little more if they can.

ThankYou,

Tammy and Craig at PYT

NCPAC fundraising is well on it's way to our goal of $250,000 but we still need to raise additional funds to be out of the woods and into our new facility in the 2nd quarter of 2023.

We're about 80% of the way there!

With all the property and building fees paid to date, and all the existing assets of our existing Arts Center that'll be used in NCPAC, we'll need a minimum of $250,000 to complete building floorpan shown above and move into NCPAC.

The NCPAC building project fund balance as of year end 2022 is about $196,500.

$150,000   – Personal investment from Craig Witter in hand
$15,000+-  – Retained earnings of PYT/CFTA in hand as of Dec. '22
$10,000+-    – Projected max. profit of PYT/CFTA  in Q1 '23
$14,000+-  – Crowdfunding campaign funds in hand as of Dec. '22
$2,500       – Donation pledged to crowdfunding campaign but not received as of Dec. '22
$5,000       – Crowdfunding campaign check in hand but undeposited as of Dec. '22
