How could we talk about our 12 favorite bulls without mentioning a legend-in-the-making, VR VIMO?!
This VikingRed bull is truly exceptional. Global VikingRed Product Manager, Jakob Lykke Voergaard, comments that VR VIMO may likely be the most impactful bull since Backgård, the Swedish Red megastar born in 1991. Yes, Backgård preceded the formation of the VikingRed joint breeding program that combined the Swedish Red, Danish Red, and Finnish Ayrshire breeds!
VR VIMO is the sole proven NTM (Nordic Total Merit) leader at +33 NTM. He has improved +2 NTM points since the August 2022 proofs, which is especially impressive considering the rolling base change regresses bulls down by about -4 NTM points per year.
VR VIMO now has 1490 daughters to his credit, an increase of over 600 since August. His yield index has improved to 118, and he sees improved indexes in milk (102), fat (122), and protein (109) pounds now with 99% reliability. The likely reason is because he has added enough 2nd and 3rd lactation daughter records to show that his daughters are seeing substantial production increases as they age. For example, his 3rd lactation proof for fat pounds (128) adds 16 points compared to his 1st lactation fat pounds proof (112).
VR VIMO daughters are expected to have high percentages of fat% (125) and protein% (112), equivalent to +0.32% fat and +0.09% protein. He’s A2A2.
Moreover, VIMO daughters are showing more persistency (106) as they age—an important feature for herd owners who seek to maintain efficiency and profit of cows across the DIM of lactation.
