Thank you for a wonderful 2022!

2022 Sake and Sakura

Looking back on 2022

The year's end is often a time of reflection, and we have a lot to celebrate as we look back on 2022. While we still experience an occasional interruption, our practice and performance schedules are returning to normal and we are performing before our favorite audiences once again.

We had 25 performances this year, including the return of several annual traditions that had been paused since the beginning of the pandemic. We returned to Saint Louis Art Museum this month for the Winter Celebrations, our first visit since late 2019. What a treat to be back!

We also grew considerably in 2022, with six new members joining the performance group. Already, they've shown a tremendous amount of energy, eagerness to learn new material, and adaptability to unexpected changes in performances - even on the day of the show. We can't wait to see what they bring in the coming year!

We wish you all a happy and healthy New Year and are excited for the year ahead!

Thank you donors!

If you've been to one of our recent performances, you know that our taiko are well worn. Several have holes in one (or both) drum heads, making them unplayable. All of our chuudaiko need new skins so we can continue to perform, so this fall we began an appeal to raise money to help with the cost of these expensive repairs.

Thanks for your support, we are well on our way to paying for these repairs! At our recent Giving Tuesday fundraiser, we raised over $2000, all of which will be used for drum repairs. We are now working with taiko makers in California and in Japan to schedule the work. Thank you!
