Update from Cate

Dear Members and Friends of the Children’s Museum of Skagit County,

The year of 2022 has been a memorable one, filled with the return of celebrations, special events, thriving preschool and camps programs, exponential growth of the Help Me Grow Skagit Family Resource Center and a busy museum! It’s a joy to see so many delighted children and adults, especially on this last week of December. Hearing the voices of many languages in the museum reminds us of our ability to welcome and serve all children and families who walk through our doors. After nineteen years of operations, I am still inspired daily!

I am grateful for our steadfast, committed Board of Directors: Anna Holm, President; Vicki Aslett, Vice President; Maura Jurenka, Secretary; Tracy Duncan, Treasurer; Tracey Levine, Co-Founder; BJ Larson, DDS; Lynda Clements, PhD; Karen Beckner, Dawn Latimer, Dave Hillman and Lena Beamer. Thank you all for your time, talent and treasures. You are caring and wonderful people!

The staff at CMSC has had a very busy year! We’ve welcomed new members, and said farewell to several others, who remain part of the CMSC family. We’re going to be adding more about them next month, in our eblast and on our website. Emily, Kate, Jenny, Madison, Liz, Maddie, Jillian, Lauren, Alex, Alondra, Aoife, Kelly, Addie, Xiomara and Ayanna: thank you for all that you do to make the museum, programs, events and everything else happen. You are all an amazing team!

To the many, many businesses, individuals, foundations, and volunteers who support the museum, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We couldn’t run the organization, nor our many events without you. We’re also grateful for the many partner organizations, for together we make Skagit County a better place for children and families.

We’re already excited to be planning for 2023. We have some major grants that have come in, plus new programming that will be added in the new year. As always, we look forward to seeing you all in the museum.

On behalf of CMSC, we wish you all a very happy, healthy, and wonderful new year. May 2023 be filled with playful learning, hope and joy!

Cate L. Anderson, Executive Director
