Happy New Year Bridgertons!!
Thanks Sharon Hungate for the play-on-Bridge name. (Love the show and love the name!) Again, on behalf of the Board of Directors, I'm taking this opportunity to wish all the members of the Midland Bridge Club and the Full Deck and anyone else who is a subscriber to the Grand Slam News, a safe, cheery and/or relaxing New Years Eve.

Wednesday Evening BBO Games
The board of directors has decided to temporarily suspend our club's BBO online games due to the lack of participation and interest.  However, MBC members have to invited to join the Collingwood/Blue Mountain Bridge Club BBO online game also on Wednesday evenings.  These games begin at 7:10pm.

The sign-in to Collingwood's games on BBO is no different than signing on to our games, except their ID is "Blue" or 159665.

  • Click on Bridge Base
  • Click on Register, enter Username & Password
  • On the 1st screen, scroll down and click on "Virtual Games"
  • On next screen scroll to bottom and click on "ALL"
  • On the top right of the screen in the search feature, type in "Blue" or "159665"
  • That will take you to the registration for the game & "invite" feature
Over the next few months, our board will meet to discuss options.

Tuesday Evening Social Games Resuming
Karen Granville would like to remind everyone that the Tuesday evening social games will resume on January 10, Face-to-Face at the club.  NEW!! Please let Karen know by Monday each week if you will be playing and if you need a ride.  Contact Karen through text or call 905-706-8692 or email granville@rogers.com

Fun News From the Full Deck
Linda Lalonde passed on some fun news from the Full Deck. Ruth Moore bid and made 7 No Trump on the last game of the year! It can be done! Congratulations Ruth!!

Membership - DON'T FORGET
Now that the AGM is over and a new fiscal year has begun, memberships are now due at $20 per person.  To be a member of the Midland Bridge is relatively inexpensive but helps the board to plan events and pay the bills.  Ways to pay for your membership:

1. You can give Gail Chapman your $20 cash in an envelope with your information written on the outside.
2. You can give Gail a cheque for $20 in an envelope with your information written on the outside.
3.  BEST OPTION: eTransfer the club $20 to midlandbridge@gmail.com and indicate in the memo your name. Every time an eTransfer is received, an angel gets it wings!! WAIT A MINUTE... sorry, I'm watching TV ..  I get an email.  I'll personally thank you for your membership, letting you know that it was received.

See you next year!
