Happy Holidays and Thank You 2022 Guests!!!

James, Juniper, Aster, and Kait want to thank everyone for a fun-filled and prosperous 2022 season. It will be a year to remember for many reasons. We hired on two guides this season to help us out; Rob Perkin, with Connect Outfitters, and Patrick Lookabaugh, of Liquid Sunshine. They are wonderful friends and family and we look forward to cultivating the relationship.

Though the Global Pandemic was still around we learned to work around it a bit more this year; we were very thankful to see and rekindle friendships that we had not seen in a while because of this.

We are still trying to find new ways to fight the ability to catch and harvest a wild Winter steelhead in Southern Oregon. Something that takes a toll on us all and something moving forward to enact change. More information to come on how you can help and be an advocate for wild steelhead.

This season was about change for us. Seeing where and how long our bodies can hold up in a season, learning new sections to fish and new runs to spice it up a bit, and learning how to continue a relationship that is easy to take for granted. We felt more connection with people on the river than we ever have because of this new openness. We coveted real-life conversations and felt peaceful alongside the herons, otters, eagles, and the beautiful steelhead that graced our presence. The Fall was fire ridden and hot again, but once November rolled around we saw beautiful Fall leaves changing and winds blowing cold and fierce that brought us some rain.

This season was made possible by every person that stepped foot on our boat and into the beautiful Rogue. We have amazing stories that will be remembered for years to come.

Juniper had fun at home with sitters learning how to tone down her 'spicey' attitude... with lots of outside fun! Thank you to those who made the season possible for both of us to enjoy the Rogue and family life. Thank you, sitters- Pat, Denise, Kate, and Dad!

A big shout out to the legendary guide, Rob Perkin, at Connect Outfitters, who worked with us for two months straight. A SPECIAL thanks to Rob who we are honored to have on our team. We look forward to 2023 with Rob and hopefully many more seasons to come. He is a huge part of the Humble Heron Family.

Another call out is for the most patient guide, Patrick Lookabaugh, with Liquid Sunshine Fly Rods. Patrick joined us this year after becoming close friends and now a part of our Humble Heron Family. Here's to another year Paddy!

HUGE thanks to R.B. Meiser crew; Nick and Mike Moses, Steve Godshall, Kate Davidson, and lastly Bob Meiser! They kept our rods stocked, functioning, delicious, and waxed all season long. (Not to mention some amazing field test rods that some of you fished with!)

A thank you to Zack Williams at Swing The Fly Magazine for providing us all with meaningful and knowledgable content on a platform that allows us to connect with more than just fishing. On that same note thanks to Richard Harrington at The River Rambler for stories to listen to on the long drive back from the river or at home tying a fly. From conservation and biology to a hilarious out-of-the-ordinary fish story. Rick is a good friend of the family and is a huge part of the Humble Heron story.

Thank you to Port Orford Sustainable Seafood for making our lunches that much better! We will be implementing a lot more seafood for our 2023 season with ideas from local chefs. If your looking for more fresh seafood in your life check these kind folks out who are doing sustainable seafood right.

Special, special thanks to the Orvis Crew we are excited to be Orvis endorsed and look forward to sharing more excellent fishy gear with everyone. They also supported James' story and published "If I Tell Them" that was released in May 2022. Huge thanks to Oliver Sutro and the Orvis team!

Thanks to Pete, Tyler, Jonathon, and Gretchen at Momentum River Expeditions for extending our fishing through the Wild and Scenic Canyon and to Flywater Travel for helping us connect guests with the wonderful Rogue. We love working with you folks and look forward to future pursuits with you all! We are very lucky to have such a wonderful community on the Rogue River.
