VH YNGVAR is a bull with global appeal starting at his entry to VikingGenetics’ Holstein lineup in 2020. He was born in Germany and resulted from the internal selection program at VikingGenetics. His dam, pictured below, came to Germany as an embryo from Sandy-Valley Farms in Wisconsin.

However, YNGVAR’s maternal line traces back even further to Wesswood-HC Rudy Missy, developed at Pine-Tree Dairy, Ohio. The pedigree aficionados among you will know that Missy is perhaps the most influential cow of the modern Holstein breed. She is responsible for Supersire, Balisto, Silver, and many more bulls and daughters of influence.

Today, VH YNGVAR (Yoda x Dozer) is an attractive option for Holstein and ProCROSS breeders alike. His Nordic Total Merit (NTM) index stands at +29.

He is a 116 on production index and is especially strong on fat pounds (121). He produces daughters with BB and A2A2 milk with better-than-average persistency.

VH YNGVAR offers outstanding udder conformation (127). His daughters’ ultra-shallow udders (137) are accompanied by strong fore udder attachments (120) and rear udder height (122) and width (115).

His udder health index (119) translates to a 51% reduction in mastitis cases compared to herdmates, and his daughters will last +95 days longer than herdmates (117 longevity). These major profit-driving gains are permanent and cumulative advantages you can add to your herd immediately, and they come on top of the large hybrid vigor (heterosis) realized for these traits from crossbreeding.
