2022 saw a number of milestones for Santa Nana’s Holiday University (SNHU). Looking back at the year, we have much to celebrate, and much to thank you for, as members of the Santa Nana family. You helped to grow our presence as you grew your Claus persona. Take a walk down memory lane with us to see how we closed 2022, doing our best to keep Santa Nana’s vision and legacy strong.
Our 2022 SNHU Sessions and Workshops
- February took us to Williamsburg, VA to deliver a one-day workshop as part of Circus Magic Convention’s annual Super Santa Sunday, with more than 25 Clauses participating. We were invited back to deliver the full program in February 2023! We're grateful to Steve Kissell and Nina Britt for welcoming us and opening the door to a new group of Clauses.
- April found us at the ISC2022 Atlanta, where we delivered two new workshops. The Complete Claus Experience highlighted challenges and solutions to including additional Christmas characters in our visits. Exceeding Client Expectations introduced in-depth techniques to deliver exceptional customer service beyond the visit. These sessions are now part of the core SNHU curriculum. Thanks to IBRBS for accepting us as presenters.
- May took us to Medina, OH, to deliver the full SNHU experience to more than 25 Clauses, just ahead of the annual Santa Day at Castle Noel. We're excited to return in May 2023. Thank you to Jacki Chamberlain for her fabulous support, along with the great folks at Castle Noel.
- July found us in Branson, MO, delivering SNHU as the keynote presenters at Spangle’s School of Santas. Our largest group yet, with nearly 100 Clauses coming to learn the Santa Nana point of view. Thanks to Spangle and Jessica Rosa for working tirelessly to make it happen.
Webinars
In 2022, we initiated a new series of webinars we call the Specialist Series, bringing experts in their fields to help make our visits with children and families even better with higher skills and techniques. We offered webinars in:
- “Recapturing Joy: Dementia and the Christmas Performer,” featuring Amanda Spalding, RN, MSN, RAC-CT.
- “Visiting Children Facing Death, Grief, and Bereavement,” featuring John Scheuch, President SantaAmerica.
- “Reading Aloud to Children,” featuring Shirley Wenner, MA in Special Education.
- “Visiting Children on the Autism Spectrum,” featuring John Scheuch, President SantaAmerica.
With your positive feedback, we will continue the series in 2023, and will announce the initial topics and specialists shortly.
We continued our complimentary webinars on:
- "Our 2021 Journal" – our annual season review to share lessons learned and what to adjust going forward.
- "Event Design" – a new webinar that gave participants an easy guide to design any type of event, whether solo or with a partner. The session provided ideas on activities, timing, flow, materials, and much more.
- "Ready…Set…Let’s Go Claus!" – our annual season readiness chat, answering questions about the season ahead, and sharing insights about what challenges and opportunities this year's Christmas would present.
All complimentary Claus Cyber Cafe webinars are available on the Santa Nana YouTube channel.
Programs and Resources
We expanded our presence to reach our Christmas family, and announced an amazing opportunity to make it possible for you to attend a session.
- The Darline ‘Little Darlin CLAUS’ Ray Scholarship will allow two ladies to attend an SNHU session, thanks to the generosity of Santa Rex Ray.
- Our Blog is open to your feedback and contributions on topics relevant to our readers.
- We established a presence on LinkedIn and will further expand that platform in 2023.
Looking Ahead
In 2023, we mark the 7th anniversary of Santa Nana’s breakthrough program, which she initially delivered from her Arizona home, over Skype, to three ladies between January and April 2016. It seems so long ago, yet only yesterday, that she shared her vision and point of view for holiday education. We miss her dearly, yet feel her inspiration always.
We're also returning to Williamsburg, VA in February, Medina in May, and are working on a western location we hope to announce shortly. We'll continue both complimentary and Specialist Series webinars, and we're continuing to develop new topics based on your requests and our observations on important topics to our Santa Nana family.
