One year closes, another opens
We celebrated the end of 2022 at the Annual Dinner and Prizegiving on
3 December, followed by an energetic ceilidh led by Merrick Sheldon and Moira Strutt (pictures in the next physical Ripple). Thanks to both, to Amy Scott and helpers for making the West Oxford Community Centre look festive, and to David Frudd for doing all the admin before the event.
At the AGM the night before, we elected a new Committee, with Owen Williams as Commodore, Amy Scott as Vice-Commodore and Andrew Parsons and Vanessa Moir as ordinary members - other officers as before. Thanks to David Edwards for his year as interim Commodore, and to David Frudd for several years as Vice-Commodore.
Winter social 4 February 2023
Our winter party is kindly hosted this year by Pete and Sue Ledwith at
15 Farndon Road, OX2 6RT. They say "Parking is ok in the street or round the corner in Warnborough Road. From 7pm. Bring a bottle and a dish to share. We look forward to seeing everyone."
Who said there's no such thing as a free launch?
We have decided to buy a new launch this year, but in the meantime the RYA has announced a competition... for which the prize is a launch of exactly the type we had chosen. The rules are as follows: "We would like you to tell us in less than 250 words why your club needs a new safety boat and the impact this would have on getting your members and new participants on the water. Only one entry per club will be accepted."
If you'd like to have a go, please email your entry to committee@medleysailingclub.co.uk by the end of January - they will choose the best and submit it to RYA by the February deadline.
Boats Out
Will be on Sunday 5 March at 1300 h, and the first Sunday race will be on
12 March at 1400 h. See you there!
