BC Brief

JANUARY 3, 2023

Please remind students that registration is open for the winter intersession and the spring 2023 semester.

Information on Winter

Starting immediately, the following Zoom security settings will be enforced to prohibit unauthorized access:

  • A passcode will be required when setting up all Zoom meetings (scheduled, instant, and personal) and webinars.
  • All Zoom meeting and webinar attendees will be required to enter the passcode to access the meeting.
  • The use of the Zoom waiting room to validate attendees will be enforced.

These settings are global for the CUNY implementation of Zoom—neither you nor the Zoom users will be able to override them.

You can learn more about these changes, as well as best practices when setting up and running Zoom meetings, by attending one of the following training sessions: Wednesday, January 11, 2–3 p.m., and Tuesday, January 24, 11 a.m.–noon. Register for one of these training sessions today.

If you are unable to attend the training, you can review a training recording to be available with other Zoom training recordings in the CIS Training Zoom channel in Microsoft 365 Stream or the Zoom Security Protocol document on the CUNY website and in CUNY IT Help [KB0011713], which outlines required and recommended Zoom settings, as well as best practices, to ensure safe and secure Zoom meetings and webinars.

2023 Ethics Training for Employees: The Office of Legal Affairs and Labor Relations will offer comprehensive ethics training as required by the Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government online twice a month during the academic year. Employees can register through the Finance and Administration Training Portal. A Brooklyn College WebCentral ID is required to register for courses, and you will receive a confirmation e-mail upon registering. If you experience issues with registration, please send an e-mail.
